Hello,
I have read many posts regarding EVDO modem suggestions and I am a bit confused with the options.
Currently, I am using the BSNL Prithvi modem which gives me a relatively good speed (download around 60KB/s-around 500kbps) and if I go on to my terrace then the speed jumps to anywhere from 80-100. So I wanted a modem which has external antenna port or works in an area where I have coverage issues.
Based on various suggestions on this forum, I found the Sierra 595U/598U has been recommended by many so does that work with BSNL SIM(RUIM)? If not does anyone sell one unlocked in India and help me configure
Secondly, my friend has the U301 model and has been lying idle as it could not be configured for use with BSNL EVDO. Even searching the web there has been no help making the U301 work with BSNL EVDO. The U301 actually is multiband and supports EVDO Rev.A as well as WiMAX so if I could make that working and test the results before buying the Sierra 595U/598U.
Other than that searching I have come across ZTE AC2791 and HUAWEI EC306-2. Both have up to EVDO Rev.B so going forward if towers are upgraded then it would be good to have this.
The Huawei has an external antenna port but cant seem to find it on ebay / amazon or any such site so not sure where its available.
Thanks.
