So the other day I went to Acro aka SMC for RMA'ing my FSP/Tacens PSU. The guy there told me that it had only 1 year warranty (FSP psus actually have two years as per the info i have). So he instantly refused to entertain it saying he sold off his last piece of the psu more than a year ago. I was like "wtf?." I mean of course he might (MIGHT) have sold it off to retailers/shops but i bought it only a year ago, IIRC ~Oct 2012 from Vipin's in NP. If i had the bill with me i could have argued hard. but i misplaced the bill (i still haven't been able to find my bills--my only fault here imo) so I didn't want to say much. But that's not why i posted this. First he claimed it had only 1 year warranty. Second he didn't even bother checking the sl. no. of the product for confirmation. Third, i requested (yes Requested) him to check what exactly was wrong with the psu. If Acro Engg distributed the product the least he could do was check what was wrong with the psu. I didn't tell him to repair it, only check/diagnosis. I'm their customer. If they don't even want to do that i don't know what the ****ing hell after-sales service are meant for. Its not like i brought something which was distributed by another org. Remember I didn't tell him to repair it, only check/diagnosis.I was thinking of meeting Mr.Dilip or someone else but SMC didn't help in my last issue with a Logitech mouse which i bought from them (I had to settle this problem myself after weeks of visiting Rashi) and with a Razer mouse RMA (few months after the Logitech incident, I didn't pursue this, I was so pissed off that I threw away the mouse). So i thought meeting them would be useless and since i was in need of help urgently i went to a local repair shop and got it repaired.
After this experience I dont think that I will buy any product distributed by Acro Engineering aka SMC International.

Sorry, you may not like to hear this, but if I were the distri and u don't have proof of purchase I would not bother to help you as well. Firstly, it could be an imported piece. Secondly, he has no clue as to when u bought it, only when he sold it to the dealer. I doubt very much that he would have details by serial number for each and very PSU he has sold.

But I do agree, that if there is a 2 year warranty and if you are able to prove that up I bought it a year ago, then he should accept it for Rma. What I would suggest is to go to the dealer and ask him for a copy of the bill and also warranty details. That should help you.

Please keep in mind that we have a lot of people around who abuse the warranty terms and that makes it more difficult for the rest of us. This is why Rma in India in General seems to be bad

^^Won't the serial no. and batch no. clarify whether it is an imported piece or not?

Also, the OP clarified that he was not having the bill.

Why should the service centre lie that the product has only 1 year warranty when it has 2 years of it?

Abusing warranty terms goes both ways. But there is only one entity who is making more profit, and that is the company. So, looking after genuine customers should be their top priority. If not, then there are always alternatives, or they will soon emerge.

@mav2000 that should answer your question about the possibility of import. Also Vipin Imports sells only products which they bought legally from the authorized distris.
Anyway getting the bills will not help now. I've voided the warranty by breaking the seal and repairing it locally. Thanks to them.
SMC people have a stupid ego problem. This is clearly visible. Unless you buy something expensive chances are they will not even entertain you. I've experienced this in my many visits to the shop. Not to forget their higher prices of the products which they sell (even though i used to buy from them because i thought that since they are directly linked to a distri and many other smaller shops they would offer better support if i were to face a problem in the future, i guess i was wrong). So I stopped going there. Please note that this is not a baseless accusation or something "bad" about them written out of anger.
