It was going for 20371 after SBI discount for me. I paid 10k out of that with FK vouchers which I had bought using my Infinia card @ 16.5% RP's so worked out to 18.5+ for me.

Makes sense. It was a hard decision for me too but then finally decided to get this hoping it would be a one time investment of 18.5k for the next few years and I had no use for 2 NAS's, 40-50TB should last me a long time considering my existing usage.

I ended up buying DS418 during the sale for the added protection of BTRFS, additional LAN port, slightly more RAM and the newer design, felt like it would last me longer and would be more dependable albeit slightly more expensive. But the DS420j was on offer at a really attractive price indeed

This seems like a decent option, I'll try calling them and try to find out if it's a legit website. If this doesn't work out, I have a friend who will be coming soon from the US will get the item in the OP.

I've crimped several cables in the house before as there wasn't any other option and from those past experiences would definitely not want to do them again, especially for patch cables, for which I have options of buying them.

I actually had not seen them. Yes, quite expensive and they don't seem to look as good either when fitted according to some videos

Would plugging this to a router which can do >1GBPS speeds help in going above 1GBPS on Airtel? I'm currently hitting 1 GBPS and wondering if the Airtel router is the limiting factor or if Airtel has a hard limit of 1GBPS? Not that I need speeds >1GBPS but I am curious to know

Any examples of similar dimensions 2-4 bay model that one can buy with a powerful processor? Also it is nice to keep a simple low power NAS to just serve files reliabily and then have a cheap mini PC(s) running your stateless docker containers reading from the NAS.
