Car & Bike Top Gear ?

its not coz of challanges and crap, it was coz of hamster's crash and all the (unwanted) publicity that came bundled with it, and the subsequent lack of time to film something worthwhile etc etc..

no no. He said their highest EVER rating came during the American journey in Season 9. That has made them rethink their whole strategy.

BTW, newbies to the exciting world of Jeremy Clarkson,

get hold of his videos.

The latest one is called "Supercar Showdown". As the name says, LP 640 roadster, F430 spider, Gallardo spyder, Porsche 911 GT3, Aston Martin V8 Vantage Roadster, Audi R8, Ascari K10 (which he says is as good as the Enzo).

Older ones are Heaven and Hell, "the good bad and the ugly" (this one is superb. Compares European and American cars. The best part comes, when he compares the exhaust notes. A Ferrari 360 at full blast !! ).

I forget the names of others.

Just go to Wikipedia and search for Jeremy Clarkson and then scroll down to his DVDs.

man, season 9 was the first season after the crash.. :p people saw it no matter what crap they showed.. btw does rating matter? A show that has words like engine, torque, bhp, 0-60, double wishbone, etc etc every other minute will obviously have far less takers..

I know it came just after the crash. But if the ratings were stable throughout the series, it would be one thing. But it reached a peak during that special.

Hamster's crash got a lot of people interested in the show. And it reached a peak during the American Special. They are afraid if they go back to normal road tests and stuff, ratings will go down (and they surely will).

Why do ratings matter ? Becuase that brings in shitloads of money which keep the show going !!
