    Jio Gigafiber rollout

For both Hyderabad and Chennai. The agent would not specify the actual date when I would be upgraded. Only soon, and if not in November or December then for sure by January.

    Reliance Jio Rollout

Just like the telcos most of the ISPs won't be able to complete on pricing alone. I have 3 currently - Airtel, Hathway and ACT. Hathway was already the cheapest and yet they have an offer going on for 50% discount for life currently... and they are the only ones giving me no FUP. I've been...

    Jio Gigafiber rollout

Hathway told me fiber rollout starting from January for existing customers. But it will take some time before it comes to all. Need to see if they will unify the package or how they will do billing for both ISP and Cable TV. As of now they sell both Cable TV and ISP services separately. Also...

Suggestions for buying a new Router please

Not always... I've always found Asus to be on the higher side (at least the models I've wanted). Netgear OTOH has been on par (or even lower)... and the reason I've bought them the most. Then again prices of Ubiquiti are highway robbery... over 200% markup even on entry models.

    Reliance Jio Rollout

Ha ha, don't know about that but my broadband bills have been steadily coming down and FUP increasing at the same time. Can't complain.

Lifetime validity on prepaid mobile plans and deactivation

Because TRAI let Jio play the game of time based recharges. With Jio no matter how much the value of my recharge the validity period remains the same... 84 days or thereabouts. If it's acceptable when Jio does it, it should also be acceptable when Airtel also does it.

Lifetime validity on prepaid mobile plans and deactivation

And that brings me to my first point... Why call them Chortel when they are (seemingly) the last ones to throw in the towel? It's the Ambani Bros. Inc. that's robbing us blind with our own tax money.

Suggestions for buying a new Router please

Get the Netgear X4S. It's the top rated router for throughput and range. Otherwise a Ethernet only router and an access point. Can't be beat for coverage.

Lifetime validity on prepaid mobile plans and deactivation

I don't mean lifetime validity for data.... I mean lifetime validity (or validity for the term of Jio's license) for INCOMING CALLS. Folks don't recharge they don't get data, and they don't even get outgoing calls, that's how it should be... but incoming can remain. Even BSNL makes you...

Lifetime validity on prepaid mobile plans and deactivation

I'm not a fan of Airtel and in fact use Jio, but in this case we should blame TRAI for letting Jio get away with it in the first place. Jio has put in place a system where nobody has a lifetime validity. Why allow only one company to abuse the system? Others wouldn't even be allowed to roll out...

induna blocked in ACT broadband ?

Isn't blocking against net neutrality? Porn, child porn, and DRM I can understand... but why block legitimate sites.

PC Peripherals Dent on new PSU.

If you are not getting what you paid for i.e. a brand new piece without scratches and dents then go for a refund. Do you think the seller/Amazon would take a little less cash or even torn notes (COD). Highly unlikely. And another sale is just around the corner.

    Reliance Jio Rollout

It will - either to Jio or the individual. Airtel said free calls, but I need to provide instrument. I do have a couple of Panasonic cordless phones lying around, but I still wasn't interested. If Jio needs to start providing the phone hardware it will add to the overheads, they are already...

    Reliance Jio Rollout

Do you guys mean home phones and calls? Who uses them these days? I did not take it with Airtel even though they were giving it for free... all my calls are anyways already free on Jio. Just the ISP and cable TV/OTT should be the pitch methinks. Calls and mobile data they are already winning...

    Reliance Jio Rollout

Low pricing will be the only way to gain market share. More than the ISPs it's the cable-wallah and DTH guys who will hurt more. IPTV will be the Trojan horse. On the ISP front, if they go big in tier 2 and tier 3 cities then more power to them... none of the big players have any decent...

Amazon Fire TV Vs Mi Box

I'm not disputing that... I'm using an Nvidia Shield with Android TV OS myself. However, I did want to mention that Android TV OS is different and will not give you all the games on the regular Android Play Store... so don't really buy the Mi TV Box if you want to game on it as a priority.

Amazon Fire TV Vs Mi Box

It's Android TV OS... so you don't get regular Google Play Store... and so you cannot play all games from Play Store. For gaming an Android Box with regular Android OS and not Android TV OS will be better.
