Hi montylee , First of all do not connect CPU fan to any other header. All headers are rated at their current capacity. CPU at 3 amps while Aux at 2.5 Amps and three pin headers are much lower. Read the intel doccumentation on this. I had similar problem. I did two things 1> My stock cooler...

I use the same for external cleaning. For cleaning from Inside use Vaccume cleaner to blow air In. Should you face problems with ram and other cards use a pencil eraser to clean the contacts. I also use a Industrial grade quick evoporating spray to clean the contacts of the sockets.

I suggest u also check the motherboard battery voltage. Even my new mobo had a weak battery. On installing my system I also changed the battery. If your battery is weak, u probably getting this fault quite often soon.

I got a transcend 1Gb @ 533 with the same board and it works at 4-4-4-12.;) Also I too have no issues with board stability. Been using it since last two months. The Only prob i m facing is that board is not detecting my CPU fan RPM. (Dont worry CPU fan is rotating).:S And guys do not forget...
