32 GB Nexus 7 Tablet incoming, giving the 16 GB Nexus 7 tab a nudge towards the way out.
The Nexus 7 Tablet was Google's first official tablet device (akin to their Nexus smartphones) launched earlier this year. The Nexus 7 tablet also debuted Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and packs a quad-core nVidia Tegra 3 chipset, all for an ultra affordable price tag of $199. However, this was for the 8 GB model. And with no MicroSD card slot, users quickly started hitting storage limitations. Here's Google offering a solution to that issue. More storage on a tablet makes sense anyways as users do store lots of data, movies on their tablets and carry it around nowadays (replacing their heavy laptops).
Nexus 7 32 GB Pricing and Launch
Google is set to refresh their Nexus 7 tablet lineup with a new model. The new Nexus 7 will pack 32 GB of internal storage, double of it's previous 16 GB model. What's really interesting to note is that the new Nexus 7 will be replacing the 16 GB model at essentially the same price.
Current Lineup
What is keeping us confused is that Google is going to replace the 16 GB model, keeping a 32 GB model for £199.99 and keeping an 8 GB model for £149.99. That makes little sense. What we hope (and possibly what Google might end up doing) is that Google phases out their Nexus 7 8 GB (or drops it's price to clear stock, cheap quad-core tablet much!) and replace it with the Nexus 7 16 GB model. So the lineup we are hoping for is something like this.
Expected Lineup
We can only speculate this much. Apart from the increased storage, we also expect the Nexus 7 32 GB to launch with Android 4.1.2 pre-installed (Android 4.2 will have to wait for now) which is seeding to current Nexus 7 tablets already.
The expected launch date for the Nexus 7 32 GB is sometime next week.
