Hello to all techies, gurus & LCD "gods" of this forum - please help me make a decent choice for a 32" LCD.

My requirements :
a) Full HD, <= 5 ms resp. , Price upto 45K (Mumbai)
b) Main usage : TataSky (composite out), 9 feet distance. therefore shud have good inbuilt hardware upscaling capabilities.

To streamline this discussion, I am listing down the unimportant features (to me ). Presence / absence of these features won't matter, so pls post yr comments accordingly :
1) USB 2) No. of inputs 3) Sound quality 4)100Mhz

My choices : I am stuck b/w the foll. models
1) LG - 32LH35FR, 32LG80FR JAZZ, 32LH70YR SCARLET

2) Sony - KLV-32V550A
Compared TataSky (still menu screen) on LG 80FR & Sony 550A. In sony, text was not clear, there was a little ghosting of text, similar to a shadow under mouse pointer in win XP. Showroom fellow defended sony clarifying that multiple TV's were connected to a single STB unit, so picture quality will deteriorate for TV's connected "last in the series". Then i asked him to switch off all other LCD's & keep just the sony & LG's. LG still looked more crisp for text.could not compare channels as Tata reception was not working due to rains.

3) Samsung - LA32A550P1 (dealers say Series 6 no longer available in 32") Don't know much. any other model ?

4) Panasonic
- doesnt have full HD, but many ppl have reported good pic quality. I am not sure.

Await your feedback.

well in fast moving text and fast camera pans tvs with 100hz will look sharper.
but in a tv thats not all one should compare u should check the tvs shadow details and black levels, image processing capabilities.where the samsung and sony have the edge.
the panasonic doesn't have as good SD performance compared to LG let alone a sony with BE3.
well at ur viewing distance if u primarly watch SD content u can also look at plasma options such as 42inch LG PQ70.

Sorry to hijack this topic but did not want to create new topic for this

my frd is going to buy 32 inch 32LH20FR link

Model : 32LF20FR

IPS - Advanced LCD Panel

Full HD 1080p

70,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio

5 ms Response Time

HDMI (ver. 1.3 deep colour)

2009 XD Engineâ„¢

Simplink ( HDMI-CEC)

The price shop offer is 30,500 with all discount price..

I think at 30,500 it good deal...it fullhd + ips panel too

Thanks everyone for the feedback; keep the wheels rolling with your comments. I am now planning to do some video tests by testing videos of STB resolution on these TV's. Will revert shortly.

One more question people :

Is it true that TataSky (composite) or any other non-HDMI content such as VCD, DVD will show up more badly (pixellation) on a Full HD TV as compared to a HD ready TV as upscaling required for FUll HD is more ???

em confused !!!!

well yes and no since it depends on how good the upscaler on the TV is.but HD ready tvs do consistenly fare better in SD content.

anyone looking out for 32" TV should chk out LG's newest launch - Jazz Theatre series : 32LH60YR . Specs r impressive ... looks like marriage between Jazz 32LG80FR & 32" Scarlet. Price is Rs. 49K on website, which translates to ~ 40k in showrooms.Stocks expected in next 2 weeks.

Went to hypercity and Croma... LG 32LH60YR costs 47k there. :(

47k is too pricey for a 32" !!! new model so probably it might take time for prices to subside. I will be checking at Vijay Sales shortly, it's not in stock yet.
