Actress goes from national award winner to prostitution

Shweta Basu Prasad, the 11-year-old lead actor in Vishal Bhardwaj’s 2002 film Makdee -- a performance that won her the National Film Award for Best Child Artist -- was arrested on Sunday after the police caught her in a prostitution racket at a Hyderabad hotel.

A senior police official from Banjara Hills police station said, “Shweta Prasad was arrested on Sunday, and has been sent to a government rehabilitation home. She will be in remand for some time now. The chargesheet will be filed within the next 10 days.”

Shweta reasoned for getting into sex racket, “I have made wrong choices in my career and I was out of money. I had to support my family and some other good causes. All doors were closed and some people encouraged me to get into prostitution to earn money. I was helpless and with no option left to choose (from), I got involved in this. I’m not the only one who faced this problem and there are several other heroines who have gone through this phase”.

Shweta, who is now working in Telugu films, has acted in Ekta Kapoor’s hit serial ‘Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki’ where she played the role of Sakshi Tanwar’s daughter.
 
From what I have heard sometime back from a colleague who has relatives in the Telugu cine industry, she is not an exception either when it comes to the movie industry. You see new faces in every other Telugu movie and they appear in may be in one or two more movies never to be seen again on screen and most of them end up with a "rate" the same way this girl and that "rate" is not for acting in a movie.

Sadly, lots of girls get attracted by the thoughts of fame, money and rest of the fake bling, but once they get into the industry, they find that they have to sleep with every tom, dick and harry at every step of the way. That is unless its their dad financing the whole movie and even then there is no guarantee.

Even when they finally get a chance to go on screen, they get paid a pittance if any at all and they have already lost a lot just to get there. Many end up in the high profile prostitution business to make money. Even some well educated girls (some with Engg degrees) throw themselves into this even though they are well aware of what it takes to get on the screen and they still do it knowing fully well what they are getting into.
 
I don't know why prostitution has to be such a big deal. So much stigma attached to it. Why cant we for one legalize prostitution and make sure women aren't victimized anymore. Its not the sex that's the problem for these women. Its between Police, pimps and our retarded narrow-minded society that they suffer.
 
I was always 99% confident that this same happens to every other actress in bollywood aswell. I mean come on, a producer is spending millions to make a money and he won't even ask for some sugar? ;) Anyways, this story makes that 99% to 99.9% (0.1% remaining till I see nude leaks :p ). Just imagine, actress changes in every other Salman khan movies, and if some actress by some chance does get to be in multiple, that means actor wasn't over her and wanted more. When he got enough, TA TA, BYE BYE.

And now, just imagine how come Priyanka Chopra even got a music video with Pitbull. He didn't get any? afaik, they both met at IPL and then next you know, both are in a music video. Actresses are desperate ****s, anyone remmeber the reddit AMA of Priyanka ? that was so embarrassing. They literally got her ass kicked in there and then never got back to answering questions. One of the most head turning question in reddit was about her fake English accent (she was out of India when she did the fake accent and when she came to India, her accent was some other). I'm not just saying this for actresses only, may be even actors have to do these stuff. May be have to get in bed with gay people in the industry or even cougars. Just speculations though, may be I have to stop on that tb's of porn ;)

If we Legalize prostitution then there would be sex hotels just like normal hotels buddy. Its a nuisance to the society living around.

Yeah? Do you think there are no Sex hotels right now already? Well welcome to the real world. They exist, in almost every city. Multiple of them. They run in connivance with the police, mafia and all. And like any other illegal business, the girls are exploited. Their children live in the same place and their children (especially the girls) are forced into prostitution at a very young age. As low as 6-8yrs old. Can you imagine what that would be like? Is that not a nuisance for you cause that's not your problem? Heh. I've worked with organizations helping these women and their children. You have no idea how bad the conditions are for these people.

There is no nuisance. You regulate them properly and you even give these horny rape-y boys a chance to get off. The women in the profession get better care, more respect, are properly licensed, dont need pimps and it can run just like another business.

India has everything to gain from legalizing prostitution. But these old hags and self professed protectors of "society" wont let it happen cause of their narrow-minded nature. On the outside they will claim to be pillars of morality while do all kinds of nasty shit themselves. These are the same politicians with so many sex scandals and adultery. But hey that's okay cause they don't do it openly, but god help these women if they try to earn an honest buck, cause that's against their stupid society.

I agree as i personally know of a case where even to get a side but important supporting role a new comer is asked to sleep with the most respected person in Bollywood.
Problem is there is a lot of struggle to get the opportunity and people don't want to let it go and think its just one time, but it happens again and again until you are immune to this.
She eventually decided to drop completely out of bollywood in the end but most people would go the other way probably.

Damn I liked that movie and the kid. She did awesome acting on that double role.
The news indeed is very sad.

No, it's not like that. I respect everyone, no matter who they are, what their religion is , color or anything. I was just stating something I always was curious of. My be I have seen alot of hollywood movies, tv shows to think like this. I have the same opinion for politics and cricket. I'm sorry if I offended anybody.
