Annual Maintenance Charges of Debit Card ?

If i get a Debit Card now will i be charged the Annual Maintenance Charges this year or from next year?

BTW Annual Maintenance Charges of Debit Card is charged at the beginning of the year.
 
Some banks' savings accounts have no annual charges for debit cards, usually depends on maintaining a minimum balance.

I'm not sure of the current situation, but one of HDFC's accounts with a 25k min balance has such a free platinum debit card.
