Any Dr fixit waterproofing review?

Well as any other society we too are facing serious terrace leakages and after trying various solutions and the problem of follow up.

We had decided to go for pidilite(makers of fevicol) for waterproofing.

No doubt their charges are high but also they give guarantee of 5 years and also being from Fevicol we are planing to go for it.

But we are totally unknown of what to check or how to know we being charge accordingly(they need 80% payment in advance just before material arrives) and whether we going on right path or not.

Any help will be welcome.

We got this done for exterior walls few months back, will update here post the finicky monsoon

Get this done from some reputed Paint shop/hardware store . The guarantee given by such companies is worth less . Read the fine prints of the work and you will find that materials would be free in warranty period and labour would be charged at astronomically high rates and it will be very tough for you to claim warranty . Try getting a quote from nearby paint shop you will be surprised it can be as low as 1/3rd of the original amount .

That was already done 10 years back. And it was PITA to contact local contractor once the job done to reassess. They forward some sub contractor to refix and argument continues.Dr fixit refrain from guarantee once they find your personal contractor doesn't use the material in said ratio or primer(polymer) which they recommend.Hence we planing to go with their agent only.

Society going for Dr fixit only for the reason to save its a#$ from future furore as already all say you give contract to anyone and problem persists.

Anyways some reference contract also society got and though expensive they are almost ready to give go ahead.

Hi
Any solution to this. I have a Godown with an terrace area of 12000 square feet carpet in bhiwandi, thane. The leakage is as good as rain itself. The problem is that the quality of work done as well as construction is very sub standard and that's the way things are done for Godown there. Don't understand how to handle this.

I can give a review post this rains. For godown why not try to just put plastic sheets on top?

Atul did you tried another cheaper altenative?

Damur coating....
Yes tried a complete water proof with cement by removing 1 inch of the flooring and doing it fresh. The problem is that the material used is so inferior that nothing holds on it. Somebody suggested to use cement water ( cement and water mixed) and how they do on concrete roads, Let this water drain down through the open pores. If this doesn't stop nothing can. Finding labourer who do this job.

As for dr fixit type Coates have been given a big No by all people of this trade. It will last a year that's it.

Did u mix gitti in cement. Or pure cement work. Also the cement gitti mixture is done in one go. The cement water mixture us called niru in labour language and done one day after the main cement gitti work is completed. It's to fix the pores which appear after such work and later develop into cracks.

What I remember from last year, river sand and cement were mixed. I think that's what you are referring to as gitti.

But after that, water was filled and left for 3 days.

No thats pure plaster. Gitti are small size stones size zero. In this gitti sand and cement are mixed. Pure plaster will develop cracks. After this niru, pure cement mixed with water is applied. Ask any contractor he will give u proper advise.

Ardex Endura did a good job of waterproofing in one of our offices. It probably worth it to go for specialized agencies rather than the local contractor regardless of who you choose.
