Would boost retail market as price difference would be too less to go to grey market....when u can get manufacturer warranty peice from showroom :)

I think most grey market pieces are bought without paying any duty whatsoever. Chai Paani to customer office might be enough for the people bringing in such TVs from abroad.

PS: This is in reference to the people who frequently get TVs to sell in grey market. Like Alfa, Heera Panna etc i believe. For individuals, escaping duty might be impossible.

Saw on cnbc that manufacturers are going to increase prices of TV's, and other household appliances by 10-15% this coming week, due to fall in rupee vs dollar. The rupee will stabilize around 68 according to some experts. So I don't think, prices of TV sets will be comparable to imported sets.
The next six months will be bad for economy due to falling rupee IMO. Cost of oil imports etc will rise and drive up food costs even more.
