BJP can do course correction.. Here it is..

Its almost amusing how the govt redefined economic backwardness for the upper castes. For SC/STs, the govt definition of an economic backward family is income of less than 50,000 per anum. Percentile wise, income above that means that you are in the richest 41.7% and 58.3% of the population is poorer than you. For this new reservation scheme for upper caste OC category, economic backwardness is defined as income of less than 8,00,000 per anum. Percentile wise, income above that means that you are in the richest 0.17% of the population 99.83% are poorer. 8,00,000 per anum is typically middle class income and I am not sure someone with 8,00,000 income had dire need of reservations. This probably even means that the govt found based on statistics that there might not be sufficient people to qualify and fill the 10% forward castes quota with a lower income limit than that. To be honest, they might as well have removed the income limit all together since this is hardly about economic backwardness as it is about appeasement of middle class forward castes. If it had been about economic condition, then it should have been made just on economic condition alone while ignoring caste category, but they know that if income alone becomes the criteria, then it would probably just turn into another reservation for SC/BC categories.

One interesting thing about caste reservations in India is that there is discrimination even in reservations. For example, Mala and Madiga are considered dalit castes and covered under SC category. It does not matter whether they are hindu, sikh or buddist etc. But for a Mala or madiga who is a Christian or Muslim, the caste discrimination and ostracizing doesn't change, but they are not put under SC and do not qualify for reservations.

BJP is trying to appropriate Gandhi. They got Patel because Congress wasn't particular about him. The joke is Patel was a congressman through and through.

They formed caste wise groups even in US. She went so far as to stop interacting at all with these folk beyond work and it was one of the key drivers for her resigning from there.

Yup, it is very true in what I see in Canada too. Its like once they go to a new country people become even more conservative and narrow minded. I hate going to Malayali cultural events here for that reason. Just go in, eat the sadya and get out, avoiding interactions with the bigoted NRIs as much as possible.

Forget that, just look at this. 24/7 TV channel dedicated to Modi launched just days before the elections.

Where was Chowkidar for first four years ?

when he came in 2014 people were expecting this. How many people caught so far ? Vijay Malya & Nirav Modi. Is that enough ? there were no major scams in his term which is good.

It was telling that subramaniam swamy said he would withdraw corruption cases as he felt this govt was protecting wrong doers.

So with the supporters this chowkidar thing is something they wished he did across the board instead of saying it now.

Defense he has done well. But people are thinking about the scams and nothing much done.

maybe, next term, if he is lucky.[DOUBLEPOST=1553999414][/DOUBLEPOST]What's an election without a theme song

I wish politicians would be more introspective and philosophical but unfortunately people are honest with their opinions and able to acknowledge that they might not be right all the time cannot survive in politics anywhere in the world.

Instead we have people like this as the next generation of leaders:

I'm sure you'd be able to find similar examples of youth party leaders from Congress/Communists etc who also have similar narrow mind that gives them the ability to talk in absolutes and speak falsehoods without a guilty conscience. It is just sad that society can't accept leaders who can admit fault/failure, especially considering that even thinking up and implementing untested policies at such a macro level have more chances to fail than to succeed.

If these guys were honest they would be talking about how they exchanged their own undeclared cash instead of cooking up videos like this:

He's a misogynist. Which means he straight up hates (almost) half of India. Among the remaining male population, he hates minorities, which means net net he hates ~60% of Indians. So statistically speaking he is Anti Indian.

Every time he brought up patriotism he is doubling down on his bigotry.

How do you make the connection with misogyny & minorities from that speech?

or are you referring to some thing else he said.

For a 28yr old he certainly has a lot of fire in his belly. Hope his constituents in Bangalore south benefit from that
