Usually such things are done over Teamviewer, so no need to ship phones. Obviously, Chetansha is in a better position to answer in this case.

It can't be programmed for GSM 3G data or even 2G.
Its good for GSM voice/text only.
Its suited for CDMA users for all purposes (Voice/Text/data).

I would be interested if someone could unlock it GSM data.

Reading some previous messages, I (mid)understood that at least 2G GSM data works and suggested the poor soul to get it

And do you mean to say international 3G CDMA (reliance, etc) works out of the box, with no reprogramming or anything needed ?

2G data should work .Its only 3G and 4G that doesn't work in india (GSM).

Finally got my hands on the Verizon Moto E from bestbuy. Followed the XDA steps for version 5.1 and yes it works on airtel network. Thanks a lot to the person who found about it and posted it here. Love this community.

The version was 5.1 and the steps mentioned on the first page worked. Had to try twice though. 2G worked on airtel. I guess people have confirmed 3G does not work but you had mentioned above about someone who can do it.
Have not tried using any other sim. But removing and reinserting the same sim worked properly.
