Do you think i5 6500 will be enough for gaming and recording at a time... also it comes with stock cooler so do you need the hydro coolers still.?
Everyother thing seems fine to me and whats the diff between your suggested mobo and mine !
Really Apperciate your help! thanks a lot.

Intel i5 6500 is powerful to do both.
Refer this for complete understanding of H110, B150, H170 Mobos:

im still confused about the differences between this two mobos wil be nice if you give some key points... Also i cannot overclock on this motherboards if i increase my budget an get i5 6600k right? Other than that cofig look COOL!

Overclocking a CPU will help hardly for 2-5 FPS in games. Virtually i5 and i7 perform more less same. Instead of putting money in K series processor, put it in better GPU or SSD.

Ok brother so if I buy a non "K" CPU won't be the stock cooler enough or i would have to buy one???
Also can you help me with the differences between the two mobos?

  • CPU - Intel Core i3 6100 -7700,
  • MB - Asus B150 plus-8500,
  • CPU Cooler - Stock is fine since no overclocking run the fan at 90% you will get temp is sub 40 degree range at moderate to high use,
  • GPU - Sapphire/gigabyte RX480 8GB -23k,
  • RAM - kingston hyper X ddr4 16 gb -5500, always get 2 dimm's to enable dual channel memory profile
  • SSD- 850 evo 128 gigs 4.5k or 250gb at 7k your pick for OS only purpose 128 gigs should suffice
  • HDD - WD BLUE TB -3500,
  • PSU - Corsair VS550-3400, you dont need really high spec PSU bronze efficiency is fine at sub 500 watt range
  • Cabinet - Corsair SPEC-01 -3500, good enough
  • DVD-Writer - Asus 24B5SD 24x -1000.
  • TOTAL -59700 minus 2.5k if you opt for single ram stick or minus 2k if you opt for 2x4gb sticks.
  • or 82k with 2 RX 480 in crossfire

you dont need a i5 or let alone a i7 for gaming purposes no game and i mean no game use CPU these days if a dedicated GPU is present unless you do video editing or encoding or some cpu intensive stuff a core i3 with 4 cores is all you will ever need for gaming PC.

PS i used 2 980ti's with my i3 2120 and still the only thing getting bottlenecked was my GPU's under heavy load of 1440p or 4k gaming

the difference between chipsets is is that Z series chipset like Z87, Z97,Z110,Z170 are for overclocking they support k series chip they are the top tier of chipsets and have all the greatest and latest technology and lots of support for peripherals
the H series chipset like H110,H170 are exactly like Z series except they don't support K series CPU hence no overclocking statistically H series motherboards are the most selling products of all the intels chipset they are widely used in HTPC or home theatre PCs for ideal for gaming and movies then there is the new business series which contains the new Q170,Q150,B150 series chipset the motherboard i recommend is a B150 series one the B series chipset is exactly like H series except it is a little less costly due to it being a business series product unlike mainstream products like Z series or H series motherboard.

also the numbers like z87, z97 , z110 just represents their natural progression the higher numbers ones are the latest this numbering scheme is followed with all the chipsets so dont get confused

Thanks for your prompt reply..!!!
I also do some part time photo shop and some rendering works.. so I m taking the i5 6600 processor... Everything else you told is fine !! Are you sure the stock cooler that comes with i5 6600 is enough??
And about mobo im thinking the one sunil reddy told me?? Can you just tell me the key difference between these too that would be helpful! ;)

B150 chipset has no Raid support with more USB 3.0 ports but H170 has Raid support with more USB 3.0 ports.

H110 chipset is the basic & cheapest of non overclocking chipsets which support only i5 6500 or i5 6600 or i7 6700. This board has less ports of every category.

Z170 is primilarly for i5 6600k or i7 6700k processors which is used for overclocking purposes only.

Even non-k Skylake processors like i5 6500 or i5 6600 or i7 6700 can be overclocked by using Z170 series boards only where anyone can download respective brands Bioses from here to overclock: http://overclocking.guide/category/intel-oc-guides/skylake-non-k-oc/

The cheapest & stable motherboards in all categories are:
Gigabyte H110M-S2 -4500,
Gigabyte B150M-D3H -7000,
Gigabyte H170-D3H -9500,
(Above boards are for non-k skylake processors only)

Gigabyte Z170-D3H -11500.
(Above board can be used for both non-k skylake & k skylake processors for overclocking)

Ok it's getting confusing here but will be clear.. so if I want to overclock it the stock cooler won't be enough right??? Il need to buy a new one..!!! Also what do you suggest b150 or h110 as z170 seem to be pricey. Thabk you for your time :)

Intel i5 6500 can be used in 2 different ways
Overclocking & non-overclocking

But in order to OC it you can use Z170 motherboard only.

H110,B150 or H170 motherboards dont have/support overclocking capabilities.

Yes stock cooler is not enough for OCing the i5 6500 using Z170 board.

Never go with Corsair VS550 SMPS. These are very low grade and dangerous power supplies.

Go with either Seasonic S12II 520w @ 5.5k or Antec VP550P @ 4k

Use this OC guide for Gigabyte Motherboards: http://overclocking.guide/gigabyte-z170-non-k-overclocking-guide/

Use this Bios for Gigabyte GA-Z170-D3H : http://overclocking.guide/download/gigabyte-ga-z170-d3h-non-k-oc-bios/

Flash the above bios and use the above guide to OC your i5 6500. Don't forget to use good CPU cooler and a dedicated GPU since onboard iGPU gets disabled while overclocking i5 6500 using modded Bios. Okay. Gud luck...

well using photoshop is not CPU intensive you would be fine with i3 and as for OC'ing non k chips can be overclocked using Z series chipset but only a few MHZ not worth paying premium for a Z series chipset the processors are created the same to say i5 6600 and 6600k are exactly created the same way thing is in chip fabrication not all chips get made equally chips which do not form fully are binned differently and made into non k chips apart from that intel does not support overclocking a non k chip and if you fry one youre on your own my friend made one i5 go kaput he was denied RMA for your needs b150 board is enough you could go h170 if you want if you plan to use raid(most people dont) and as for PSU corsair supplies are pretty rock solid im using 3 VS series on my different PCs and a CX series and an HX series too i can send you a GRAPH for the stability of voltage and amps on the power supply also none of them have failed me so far and some are as old as 7 years now.

Ok thanks for the reply brother.. all fixed will do a coin toss for psu..!!!
Also zotac 6gb mini edition is cheaper than zotac 6gb amp.. does the dual fan setup really affect in fps?

Dont ever go with Corsair VS series PSU.
For your components sake, either go with Seasonic or Antec.

Ask other members in this forum about Corsair VS Series PSU's.
