End of vacation...going back to Slovakia this Sunday. Probably wont ever come back...it feels sad, but there is no way in hell it is possible to live here when your wife is European, unfortunately white, so is your kid. In last 4 months or so my entire notion of broad mentality of Indians has vanished. Specially northern India, our capital is a retched city with no soul. India is probably the worst racist nation.

Well other countries learned racism a lot after India. Like the decimal system we were far ahead of the Europeans in this regard.

Manusmriti laid down the rock solid roots of Indian casteism aka racism 1000 years before Jesus was even born.

We b**ch when drunk molesters get beaten up in Australia but how do we treat our own lower castes/North Eastern people?

Anyways goodbye and good luck......

Bye and good luck!

You can visit TE though right?

Did you get scammed in Delhi since your wife is white? Heard lots of scams of travel agents, curio selling salesmen and autorickshaw drivers etc taking too much money from foreigners. Hell even our Govt does it. Takes more money from foreigners for visiting Taj Mahal etc.

With his level of frustration at calling Delhi a wretched city which is somewhat true some gnarly s**t must have happened.

I don't blame you. Even ordinarily dressed Indian women get harassed for no reason. Can only imagine how bad it must have been for your family.

I don't have much to brag about in Didi's state but this I can brag about..:)

Sure, will be visiting TE from time to time. Not much of an online person anymore.
Sorry, if my previous post hurt anyone from Delhi. Certain really bad sh%t happened with us in Delhi. We were scammed at Agra, but that was no big deal as people were scamming my wife for money right from the airport. But what happened in new years` eve was really a shocker, specially the attitude of police.
That was my first trip to a police station ever, heard many horror stories earlier but now I believe pretty much everything. Anyways, my post was no way directed to law abiding citizens of India, I was born and always remain an Indian. But it is kind of hard when your wife absolutely hates your motherland.
We came here on vacation, but were trying to help people from slums with food, clothes, medicines (This is basically both of us do for a living). My wife certainly did not deserve what she experienced. She is fully aware of Indian culture and respects it and did not do a single thing that is not acceptable in India.

You would not believe, what some people did/said to my wife, simply because she is white...think we would have to go to our shrink friends to undone the psychological damage.

I guess this is related to some sexual lines if I'm not wrong. Well sadly this isn't gonna change here for next 10000 yrs to come. Such people portray here women as a sex object and pornography is contributing more to that. Porn isnt bad at all but the people here will use it for experimenting their darkest fantasies which only last levels psychos can think about.
And if they ever get a chance on a gori mem, god just save that lady from such devils!
Stay safe where she originally belongs.

^^It is very difficult to come in terms with these kind of things involving your own wife. Yes, at this day and age, pornography is not really a taboo or anything...but I had no clue even in my worst nightmare that things like that could come up when we were basically helping poor people in some slums. We are just a normal middle class couple, my wife is possibly the most kind, down to earth person I ever came across. She knew that she had been scammed multiple times financially, but did not really complain. She kept on telling me that it is fine, we should be grateful that we can afford to loose some money to help others when I freaked out.
We are now just counting hours for our flight back home, she did not deserve this.

What did she experience

Be straight and tell us. I don't mind read or speculate

You do not have to do anything my friend , ain`t gonna talk about it anymore.
I would suggest not talking about it anymore....As you might know from reddit quite a lot of Indians get triggerred when someone validly points out the flaws of our culture.
Before you know it an army of desis will descend on you with a flame war.
Keep calm and never look back.

I am guessing you're from Bangalore. Have you spent time for say at least a couple of months in Delhi?
Then you would know very well the mentality he's talking about.

People from say B'lore or Kolkata are far milder compared to Delhiites so it seems alien to us.
Even I was a bit taken aback by Delhi where the default reaction to any confrontation is macho posturing and aggression irrespective of the logical standpoint.
I was there for a couple of months for work and once I noticed a hockey stick in the car of a local colleague.
So I asked him whats that about and his calm reply was for countering road rage with threats.

Marcus, I am also born and brought up in Kolkata . I have been to our capital earlier, but this was after a very long time. Yes, people are really very aggressive in northern parts of this country. I completely forgot about this aspect of India. I have north Indian friends living in Europe, but they behave completely differently there.

Flaw in our culture ? The actions of a few get the whole culture slammed.

Damn straight you'd get it back good for that. Because we know the same goes on elsewhere if not worse.

No, i don't know what he's talking about and neither would you

There is no basis to assume anything with what he has said.

Funny but this is a default western reaction in my experience.

It's only starting to happen here now.

Indians and their culture aren't as direct or aggressive from what i've seen and our history proves it.

We tend to be victims much more than aggressors.

Why bring it up then ?
Seems like a mistake now. But since you asked, will tell you. Ever felt like trapped in your own country? We don't have much family/ friends in here. I lost both my parents, none of my two sisters live in India.
Most of my uncle/ aunts have either passed away or too old, 2 cousins that I have contact with are extremely busy with their own lives.
My wife is so sick ( mostly emotional) that she refused to go out. I am taking care of the 5 year old all by myself for close to a month now.
Sure, we could go back earlier, but we were at Rajasthan ( mostly stuck inside a hotel room) till Monday as she wanted to visit some places there for years and thought will feel better tomorrow since 2nd January.... you wanna have more details?

What western reaction mate? I've got enough of this western thing this year. What the fcuk is western/ eastern about a person's basic safefy? Basic human decency?
In small countries of Eastern and central EU, I was treated equally like every white native there from day 1.Why can't my wife expect that in India? Why does she have to pay 5-10 times everytime she buys something from small roaddide stalls, why she has to be extra cautious in beaches of Digha/ Mandarmani even while bathing in the sea?

You did mention it and at times like this family is the most important thing. You mentioning it here is because you have no one to talk to.

Actually scratch that, you're not talking to us.

You're just venting.

you wanna have more details?

I'm responding to what the other guy said in that context.

I remember getting into an argument with a colleague once: he showed a video of a guy groping a woman in a bus and the video was either shot or uploaded by a foreigner and my colleague was complaining that this 'firangi' was giving our country a bad name! when i pointed out that the pervert was the one giving us a bad name, he replied that the foreigner had no business posting that video. when pressed further that had an Indian posted the video would there be a problem he responded with "no". last time i ever spoke to the moron.
Parental upbringing seems to focus more on "what will the neighbours say" than on actual morality.

I am not a "foreigner " friends, 100% Indian. Now an ashamed Indian.
There is absolutely nothing wrong about our traditional culture, in fact from yesterday some mashimas, kakimas ( Bengalis will understand ) and didis are taking care of the kid and his mom like their own relatives. I miss it a lot in Europe.
But this is my hometown, Kolkata. We were really helpless elsewhere. There must be people like this everywhere ( tha was the experience growing up) May be it was our bad luck. But I kind of feel guilty and responsible for the entire ordeal.
