Budget 21-30k Cheap Rig suggestion

Dark Star

ex-Mod
I am planning to upgrade or rather purchase a new system replacing my older Intel Nuc which isn't cutting it anymore.

I dont want a fancy PC, use-case is work, programming and probably no gaming or maybe some CivV/VI, indies session but nothing more than that. Mostly for day to day task which sometime gets cumbersome in nuc with its puny ram.

I have decided on the following after certain deliberations and research.

CPU - Ryzen 3 2200G - ~7500. Initially wanted the R5 but its performance doesn't justify shelling extra 5grands.
MB - MSI B450M Gaming Plus ~6800 - I am sceptical on this one, I probably won't be OCin or shelling more on upgrades but I can't fathom getting a lower end mb.
Ram - 8GB x 2 DDR4 3000 - GSkill or anything else with red accent to match the board, hows Adata? Wanted to settle on 8gb kit but hard to find 4gb sticks with good speed. 3k/piece
SSD - I have 120GB Samsung SSD and I want to get 240 GB M.2 mostly WD Green/Blue?. I am not into storage anymore, only want storage for my data. So that should suffice .~ 2300
PSU - Corsair 430/450 - Semi Modular CS450M? - ~3600?
Cabinet - CM Q300L . ~3.5-4k?
Fans - 2 Fans - ?
OS - Arch Linux

Things that are certain are form factor - MAtx, Ryzen platform and OS. I want to restrict the budget within 30k and that seems doable, I may delay storage expansion if that overshoot the budget but I don't plan to skim on PSU/MB.

Please feel free to suggest any better altrernative if possible. Also, I will be ordering only so PrimeAbgb or Mdcomputers or gamesncomp?

Will it be possible to get the CPU cooler from higher end ryzen? I am eyeing Wraith Spire LED.

TIA.

P.S- Tried copying the template but couldn't get the formatting.

Any inputs will be appreaciated :p Or the choice of components are apt?

I am not willing to wait for 3000 APU as they are mere refresh, here's wishing R5 2400G price to drop at around 9k.

Ryzen 3000 series is out and successor to 2200G costs about 1K more.

^^ That is probably for Zen 2 based CPU and this is an older Zen+ based APU mere rebranding with clock bumps and process enhancement. I dont think APU will have any such issue.

Thanks for bringing that up.

Ohh and which wireless PCI? card do you suggest. I will need a wireless card for the new setup 5ghz AC?

For wireless PCIe addon card try to stick to TPLink (if you can verify its a Qualcomm Atheros chipset) - avoid Realtek chipsets due to lack of in-kernel support - but I guess you already know this :D

I got my 2.4 ghz Wifi-A/B/G/N card a few years ago which was advertised as 150 mbps but I get 72 mbps link speed max so far in Windows and it worked out of the box in linux (ubuntu) 16.04 lts, fedora etc and newer.
Post automatically merged:

5ghz one seems to be costly around 3k, the regular 2.4 ghz ones are under 1k.

Can i use my existing WIFI chip from the older NUC in Desktop? The interface doesn't seems to resemble either mini PCI/PCIe? A proprietary interface?

The chip in question is Intel Wireless AC 3165 + Bluetooth 4.2. Can I get an adapter and make it work on a desktop?

The manual states the interface to be M.2 - PCIe/USB. Can I get an adapter for it and makeshift in existing PCIe x1?

Edit - Found it, need a m.2 to pcie x1 adapter. Found some cheap listing on Aliexpress.

The latter is not available but I am willing to wait. Msi older board has bios issue owning to low capacity bios chip.

How about this one -

Seems like it supports Ryzen 3200G from 1201 bios revision.

Very resonable price, from where you bought all these components?

Just an update - for the first fortnight, I was having all sorts of trouble- no Linux would work fine even after compiling Kernel 5.2.7 I was getting lots of interrupts and panic.

After that I installed Windows 10 and noticed frequent browser crashes and BSOD. Did the memtest and SMART test and no issues, finally RMAed the CPU/Mb and got the replacement yesterday. Everything is fine now.

It means issue with AMD 3200G + ASRock B450M Pro4-F (BOTH are defective.. since day one)?
