    • CPU - Intel i3 6th Gen.
    • Motherboard - Gigabyte B150M D3H or similar
    • GPU - Not needed (i guess) as i don't intend to play games on it
    • PSU - Corsair VS 550 or similar
    • RAM - Corsair 8 GB DDR4 or similar
    • Cabinet - Don't know much about this but any cabinet fitting the above will do
    • Hard Disk - Will the above mentioned Samsung HDD fit the bill or i will have to buy a new one?
  5. Is this going to be your final configuration or you would be adding/upgrading a component in near future. If yes then please mention when and which component
    • Yes, will upgrade the following within 2 years if need be,

    1. Full HD
  12. Are you looking to overclock?
    • No
  13. Which operating system do you intend to use with this configuration?
    • Linux

  • CPU - Intel i3 6th Gen. Go lower. You don't need an i3 for a download box. Get an Intel G4400. It's about 40% cheaper.
  • Motherboard - Gigabyte B150M D3H or similar. Go lower. You can easily do with an H110 based board from ASRock. About 40% cheaper.
  • GPU - Not needed (i guess) as i don't intend to play games on it
  • PSU - Corsair VS 550 or similar. No compromise here. But you can go with Circle's cabinets with bundled SMPS.
  • RAM - Corsair 8 GB DDR4 or similar. Get G.Skill. It is cheaper and much more reliable in my experience.
  • Cabinet - Don't know much about this but any cabinet fitting the above will do. Look for Circle's cabinets. You'll get front USB 3.0 and their SMPS is also alright. I'm using one in my office and the quality is good.
  • Hard Disk - Will the above mentioned Samsung HDD fit the bill or i will have to buy a new one? Should work. But I recommend getting a new one. Get a WD Green. Cheap and quiet.
  • Monitor - ? Will you be using this with your HDTV?
This should easily last you 2 years.

Thanks for your suggestion. I will be using the BenQ monitor which i already have. How is the review of ASRock motherboards?

Great first sentence but second sentence :banghead: Though you are using one, when it would die, it would take couple of components with it. Recently, an iBall make PSU bursted in one of machine at my workplace. Motherboard of that machine is gone.

Circle is much better than iBall, but yes, if budget permits, always choose Corsair/ Seasonic/ Antec. I wouldn't even recommend Cooler Master. But that's just me. I have had the worst luck with CM SMPS and GPUs.

Using an ASRock motherboard in my office. Unless you're expecting to overclock, it is very stable and the component quality is very good for the price.

Things which are finalised:

PSU - Either Corsair 450 or Antec 450 (any one will do)
RAM - Corsair DDR4 2133Mhz or G Skill DDR4 (any one will do)

Yet to be finalised:
Motherboard: First I am confused about whether to go for Gigabyte or ASRock. ASRock H110M HDV is having almost everything as compared to Gigabyte B150M D3H. But don't know much about quality and durability of either. Also price wise ASRock is really good.
CPU - Intel G4400 appears good for my use. However tempted to go for i3 6100.
Cabinet - Antec or Circle cabinet.

Also got this quote from Lamington road:
i3 6100 @8600
Gigabyte B150M D3H @7450
Corsair 8GB RAM @2700
PSU Corsair VS550 @ 3200
Circle Cabinet @ 1650

Intel G4400 @4500
ASRock H110M HDV @5000
Corsair VS 450 PSU @ 2300
Antec X1 t Cabinet @2500

plus taxes & delivery charges.

Please help.

If the ASRock fits your needs, why spend 2.5k more? Invest in a liquid cooler instead if you're keeping this rig on for 24 hours. They hardly cost much anymore anyway.

The ASRock motherboard also has solid state capacitors like the Gigabyte. Quality will be similar but Gigabyte B150 would probably have more HSIO lanes, which would be very relevant if you were thinking of installing a PCIe display card.
