Go for Canon A400. Costs arnd 6.8k and has 3.2 Mp, with 2.2x optical zoom. Has got good reviews and won the digit camera test.

that is why I'am buying Sony Cybershot DSC-S40 4.1 Megapixel digicam for Rs. 8,000.

As it has 32MB internal memory, video recording with sound (640x480@30 FPS), 3X Optical & 6X Digital Zoom.
