To all informed TE members:

I recently received 2 pairs of Rechargeable AAA Eneloop batteries, which shows manufacturing date as August 2007. I suspect that batteries lose efficiency with increase shelf-life.
Is it so ? Should I return these batteries ?

Thanks in advance.

I have started using one pair because of sheer necessity. It was still half-charged (according to my phone handset). Have set up on 10 hr uninterrupted charge. I am sure it would work but still have nagging doubts. Actually dont want the unnecessary hassle of returning etc. I tried googling for more information. Any info/links is welcome.

I have very limited knowledge regarding this , but it should'nt be a problem , Sanyo claims a 15-20% self discharge / year so you will have half the battery life . But thats only one discharge cycle , as long as the battery is properly stored , it shouldn't be an issue . I suggest you completely discharge the batteries once , then charge them fully and see whether they are performing optimally .
