is dere any site dat has either ideas or ready computer related projects, from which i can get some idea, or d whole project itself.
 
It depends what type of a project u want to do.
Also, it also depends upon the programming language u choose and the backend u wish to use. Do mention these requirements and get better and specific sites which will help you.
 
i'm doin diploma in computers
i had C in d 1st year,
C++,HTML,some databse[SQL], JavaScript in d 2nd yr...
now i'm in 3rd yr.. and i'll b doin java, vb, asp, vbscript...
my first preference will always b 2 make my own thin, but for doin dat i need some ideas, so at present i need u guys to just gimme some ideas of intermediate level
 
wat i remeber frm my project lists, are :

management system, library or hospital, or office etc.. (DBMS)
website creation toolkit,
OS in C,
Netwrok manager/ftp browser, thus somthing related to networking,
paint/PS type software,
messengers,
compression softwares..

these are few i can rember now.. :) hop this helped..
 
You could make a management system as Bluediamond suggested using C for a departmental store. Ofcourse, you would have to use a database as the backend.
Apart from this, you could make an inventory system with reports for a warehouse with daly reports, monthly reports etc.
 
hint : go thru the personal pages of iit students .... if they can do stuff ,thers no reason why u cant be resourceful and innovative as well ,and check out their project line, areas ,etc you will also be rated highly if u can pull it off.

Blue, you guys do such easy stuff?
I'm just into 4th year and am starting looking for a project. Here is what some of my seniors did:
1. Security in OpenMosix.
2. Network protocol generator (enter an XML description of a protocol and get code for it)
3. Something on RAID clusters....
4. Java based clusters using SOAP...

Now I know how we won the most prizes at iitb techfest..... for the past 3 years at least.

well, u can go upto any higher level..
he asked for intermediate level projects with the languages he knows.. so just mentioned those...
 
No, I mean, it appears that most of you guys don't have the stringent requirements that our college imposes on us.....
Of course, all this is name and not substance - they implement but a prt of the whole thing, but still, it is a big thing.
We can do crappy projects too, and we only get 10 marks less.
