Free Sygic & MapmyIndia GPS Android App

I got 13.1.5 as the free version. How do I check the maps date/version?
Edit: Went to /sd-card/sygic_mmi/Maps and see those being 2012.11.. Almost a year old. are there any newer versions?

11.2012 was the last time they surveyed the country, no there are no new maps.. These are good enough..

Interesting app, was using osmand and orux with gps. Then orux got some copyright notice and the india maps dissapeared. osmand still works, not as pretty but no need for a phone connection.

@raksrules
Yeah, its back on track now.
It was down for a while after mapmyindia - sygic contract was over.
Now they use tomtom maps for India.

One more thing is, now you have to download a single 700 odd MB file for India maps, unlike the state wide maps earlier.

However I feel tomtom maps have degraded the navigation accuracy. Last week while navigating in Hyd, I had to take some ridiculous turns and extra 5 kms. Pointing out specifically coz, this never happened in the last two years while using sygic+mapmyindia maps.

Also Mapmyindia came up with their own Android app, you can try it out.

Is there any possibility of getting an old version of sygic MMI from somewhere ?
I have iPhone where I had long time back installed it (the app has maps for entire India bundled making it like 1GB in size) and I guess it still works.
So something like that still possible for android ?

And since sygic is using tomtom maps and tomtom has their own apps available for android, is sygic still free ?

Sygic is still free for India.
Not sure about the MMI thing, there was a thread in Team BHP regarding Sygic MMI, there is more info there.
