Here is what the teardown revealed -
  • Battery is 2100mAh which has built in NFC chip , just like the Galaxy Nexus . If someone is getting a replacement , make sure it is same model with the NFC chip built-in .
  • The audio processor on the Galaxy S III is a Wolfson WM1811, unlike the infamous Yamaha YMU823 on the Galaxy S II and the popular Wolfson WM8994 on the Galaxy S.
  • The front protective glass has been fused to the display, which can lead to significant costs in case it breaks.
  • The 8 megapixel camera on the back uses basically the same Sony BSI sensor used on the iPhone 4S. As such, any difference in image quality would be due to the use of different lens system and image processing .
