My friend is looking to buy a laptop this week from US. requirements:
  • Budget: around Rs. 40-45k (Flexible)
  • primary usage: office apps & internet
  • size and weight: he is travels in local, hence would prefer something which is lightweight with screen size: 13-15"
  • Brand that you prefer: Dell because of dell has international warranty. So inspite of buying laptop in US, it can be serviced in India

  • Other things: Battery life should be more, screen should work in sunlight.

I suggested Apple Macbook which is out of budget. Hence, looking for more suggestions?

Apart from premium thinkpads I don't think any laptop from US will bring down the cost by a huge margin to make it worthy bringing all the way down from there. If thinkpad is the way,I would suggest T420, otherwise get a Vaio with basic i3 config and replace the HDD with a 128 GB Crucial m4 SSD. (I'd opt for later one). Plus 2yrs extended warranty @ 2500/- What more do you want?

dell xps15 would be best for this price range. In US you can get one with confi. of i5, 6 GB ,750GB HDD at 40k.
