Hi
Got a new simultaneous dual band Belkin N 600 HD for doing only this . That is connect the EVDO usb modem on the usb modem and have a dual band WIFI with it . I dont have ADSL broadband and this is my primary connection .
I have shibby latest tomato on it that is tomato-K26USB-1.28.RT-MIPSR2-100-Nocat-VPN . Every thing is working on the router as it should be

I have done tinkering with with 3 modem
Sierra Wireless 595U EVDO modem
ZTE AC 30 ( EVDO and GSM modem MIFI )
Huawei E1731 3G GSM modem .

I am trying to connect EVDO modem Sierra Wireless 595U and use the 3G .
I have put WAN to 3G ,Modem recognized at ttyUSB0 , init string #777 . When i connect it is hung on connecting and not connected . Sierra module is getting loaded as per log . It seems it is looking for a 3G GSM modem where as i am trying to connect with an EVDO modem Sierra Wireless 595U or modem switch is not working correctly

Tried another thing
In modem profile i configured it to auto dial whenever connected to a usb port . When connected the modem LED blinks thus showing connected and while during disconnected LED is stable green . After connecting it to router usb port it blinks for 5 seconds than again stable for 10 seconds and again blinks . So modem is auto dialling but router is disconnecting the connection . Now how to ensure that this autodial is transferred to WAN and in WAN which setting to use ? . It cannot be 3G modem as there is no dialling . I tried it in DHCP but that didnt work out also . So there are 2 issues now
first using 3G modem in WAN it loads the driver then says 3G modem not available
or
When modem auto dials how to configure WAN to enable internet through LAN and wireless .

I have disabled WAN , the LED blinking is more than non blinking . Its continuously trying to connect (modem is in auto dial ) . I have tried to ping google when blinking is on but its time out
seems need to switch modem correctly like here Current USB 3G modem support? | Page 2 | LinksysInfo.org
but how ?

End of trials with Sieraa 595U

Now with ZTE AC30
I based my tries on shibby post here

Modem switching works fine
the command

Please advise how to switch it correctly

Another funny thing ZTE AC30 changed 3 product id with mode switch command . I had to do lsusb each time .

End of
ZTE AC30

Tried with a Huawei E1731 3G GSM card it work beautifully no issues , simple apn settings and its connected . tried with a powered usb hub and it still works connected immediately with the exception that auto dial didnt take place and i had to manually connect it . Once connected no issues . So build is correct , only issues with EVDO and how to switch modem or dial it . Also tried with Ekos latest ddwrt but it still doesnt work ans came back to shibby

If someone could guide as how to get this EVDO functioning on Sierra 595U . ZTE AC 30 is second priority

Thanks for reading such a long post

May be first you can try manual switching to modem mode by sending AT commands. After setting to modem mode, try connecting to your router. I think by default CD drive mode is enabled in all the USB modems and some time usbmodeswitch is not functioning correctly. I had the same issue in one of my GSM modem, and once i disabled all the modes(CD and SD card) and enabled only Modem mode, it was working fine with ddwrt and shibby's.

Can you please tell which AT commands . Huawei GSM works fine . I have tried after disabling CDROM also . Then it connects as modem straight away but still did not work . My issue is CDMA ones . May be script is not correctly installed for EVDO . Most of GSM modems modems device id and product id is present/ installed in shibby . I had checked that .
see with this command
usb_modeswitch -v 0x19d2 -p 0x0144 -V 0x19d2 -P 0x1519 -M "5553424312345678000000000000061e00000000000000000 0000000000000"
modem switched correctly in both cases with cdrom enabled and disabled but stuck on usb_modeswitch -c /tmp/zte . And all this is ZTE in GSM mode . ZTE device id should be present so shouldn't give an issue or Huawei E1731 is so popular that all distros have added its support .

You must have seen the log so anything in them ?

So its fully supported then why is it going to GSM module . I tried deleting all other modem data from the modem through winscp but it didnt allow rw . I could only edit it . Its picking up GSM sierra moule and not EVDO . How do i delete all other files from the usbswitch folder on router ?

I have been using latest 106 and Sierra 595U is not working with ASUS RT-N16. Out of frustration i revert back to Asus's latest stock firmware and to my surprised it worked on the first shot without any major settings. fail over feature is also working as well. I have tried it on Shibbys,DD-WRTand openwrt. None worked for me.
But now i am missing rest shibbys features. :(
