    Hey guys.

Want to purchase a DVD Player.
My Budget is around 3 ~ 3.5K not more.
    DIVX Compatibility is not compulsory.
If i am looking for DIVX support then is the Philips 5106K my best option?
    ne others?

Thank you for you help :)

You won't find the 5106K in the market..I think it has been phased out..Look for the Philips 3046. It should be within your budget.

Philips 3046 couldn't read Munnabhai damn-scratched(!) dvd at all at my place whereas my older dvd player DVP922 did. if you are gonna use clean cds/dvds , then its fine

    works well :) . plays divx/xvid .

I have a spare Philips 5106 (bought on March,06). Could have sold it to you if you were in Delhi.

I recently bought a Philips DVP 5150 from Vijay sales for 4.5k.The player plays absolutely all the formats thrown at it.Some very rare files have codec problems.Rest I think it has even played raw dat files & .m2v(SVCD) files straight off.Worth the money you pay for it.Got it hacked to region free as well.:bleh:

One disfactor for this player is that you can't time search in case of Divx movies.Which means of you watch the movie half way through & stop is completely then you can't input a time to directly skip to that particular scene. You'll manually have to forward it at 32x to get to that point.

Don't go for the cheap LG models instead buy one from either samsung or Philips.
