how to clean a laptop screen?

- water woul leave stains...
- am wary of using glass cleaners like colin
- would surgical spirit and soft tissue paper fitt the bill?

quick help would be appreciated as the screen is getting dirtier by the day

moist soft tissue (distilled water) for normal cleaning.
a very , very mild liquid detergent solution (non-corrosive) with a soft tissue for some hard to remove stains.
a good camera lens cleaner solutuon is also suitable.
edit: and roll the tissue paper tightly and use the ends to do the cleaning. in gentle circular motion.this reduces ur chances of leaving your finger prints on the screen.

Moist cloth works best. Once you are through with a moist cloth, just wipe it again with a soft lintfree cloth. Old banians works nice :eek:hyeah:

If you want to spend money then buy Klear screen :)

I use Rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol) with cotton swabs.
Distilled water is fine too ... just make sure you put the liquid on the cotton swab and not directly on the screen.

You can also use camera lens cleaning kit.

Avoid using paper towels, they tend to scratch the screen.
And never use window or desktop monitor cleaner they will make your screen yellowish.

Guess I'll use distilled water then...
@m31, how and where do i get rubbing alcohol....What kind of shop do i go to and what do i need to ask for?

i think u can get IPA from any local chemist..
If you dont find some u can still use petroleum benzene used by the dry cleaners for ur screen.
