both the laptops are very different but please advice.. the laptop is for my bro, the choices in question are his..

Budget - 50k MAX.. good if its less than 45k..

hoz HP tablet tx1301au with turion 64X2 1.8ghz (2X512kb L2)??? i mean heat and screen quality/angles etc??

Hoz Dell inspiron screens these days? particularly 1420..

Superzar said they are terrible.. then what are my choice in this kind of budget..??

Purpose of use - not important.

Just need to get best performance, VFM & impressive functionality (thats y looking for tablet, but this is just a good-to-have feature, not very imp)

i have the tx1302au model. i like it but a warning about the touchscreen, its some sort of "passive" thing meaning its not sensitive enough for handwriting/drawing etc. you can only use it to tap/touch/click buttons etc... :)

otherwise i like it a lot (especially the keyboard and trackpad)

got linux (ubuntu and opensuse) working on it like a charm... wireless needed some work.

also managed to get the fingerprint reader and touchscreen workign in linux after lots of research and playing around :)

what are good tablet options in indian market right now? as HP tx1301au is not apt for handwritten notes as suggested by Vishalrao, owner of one..

I think i have to narrow down to inspiron 1420 then..

it'll be good if you guys can drop in ur votes for either choices..

eagerly waiting for superzar's opinions as well..

is there anyway i can attach a firewire port to tx1301au? it doesn't come with one..

i mean with some external card etc?? tx models have notebook expansion port 3 i guess..

Getting inspiron 1420 then.. hp tx series shall not be apt for a complete tablet pc experience.. although i am lured by its great looks, portability & 180 degree swiveling screen..

So inspiron 1420 with 1440X900 resolution and rest all reasonably nice specs available with it shall be final..

who is the guy here in TE, who can get me good deal and if possible LG Phillips screen :p ?

PS - not for my bro, but i am highly impressed with dell latitude XT tablet.. may be my next purchase..:)

i am not getting any discounts from dell in inspiron except the VAT waive off which is around 2k..
