Audio I can hear my own voice while talking on messenger

everytime i call someone on gtalk/yahoo messenger.

i can hear my own voice in my own speakers.

i tried muting the microphone in vista but it didnt work. pls advise!

if you can hear your voice after a delay, then it means the person youre calling isnt using headphones. If its immediate, however, then muting the 'Mic Volume' in the playback\output section of the volume control should take care of it.

i tried that, but the sound is still there, also the other person uses a headset but i can still hear them

This may or may not help but in TF2 people who were in a private voice-chat with me could hear all the background radio chatter from my side as well as their own voice until cyberjunkie asked me to enable the 'Hold key to speak' setting.
So ask the other person to enable the same in whatever software you are using.

that works if ur in public chat rooms!

is it because of echo from room? we used to have that problem all the time while doing conf calls.
