Audio Independent sound and video output from tata sky hd box

Hi

I have a spare Dell U2311H lying around which i wanted to set up as a tv monitor in my parents' room (http://www.dell.com/us/business/p/dell-u2311h/pd)

Unfortunately it only has a DVI port and no HDMI. Based on my knowledge and experience it can carry only video and no audio. I have a HDMI to DVI cable to connect it which i got from US it has some sort of an audio out split along with the DVI out but I havent seen that working on my pc or anywhere till now.

My question is: Can i route video through this cable and an audio via the 3 composite audio cable into a separate speaker?
I am looking for a relatively cheap solution. Has anyone tried this? If yes, what kind of speaker would be best? I was thinking of a simple F&B soundbar type of speaker using the two composite to single audio converter cable along with the speaker.

I have only basic knowledge of this stuff so would appreciate your thoughts and ideas.

Can you post a pic of the cable? Normally audio only has 2 cables. I think the third cable might be analog video output.
I'm sure you will get video out from the dvi-hdmi cable. For the moment just forget about the audio connectors.

Most simple solution would be this:
Tatasky HD box has L/R analog audio output. Use an 2xRCA male to 3.5mm female audio cable to connect the stereo or 2.1 speakers.

For speakers, get a 2.1 speaker system if you want bass. Simple stereo speakers will do the job for cheap too but don't expect much from them since they are full range tiny speakers. You won't get bass or such. Most of it will be midrange and treble. I just looked at the F&D E200 soundbar and seems it is powered through usb port and a 3.5mm jack for input. So you can connect the wire i linked above directly to the soundbar using that cable and use the usb port on the monitor to power the speakers..

[DOUBLEPOST=1476767861][/DOUBLEPOST]@msankadi, So sorry! I saw the link again and found out I had linked the wrong cable. The correct one should be this - http://www.amazon.in/gp/product/B01FL1HTGA/
You can also use this (I have these and they work properly) - http://www.amazon.in/ClassyTek-Stereo-Female-Connector-Converter/dp/B00D88RV58/

I hope I edited the post before you bought anything.
