Installing open source firmware on TPlink 740N Version 4.26

I have a TP-LINK WR740N router version 4.26
Can this be flashed with dd-wrt or open-wrt
All the links for open source firmware I found refer to version 4.23 or 4.24 and nothing higher
Anyone tried custom firmware for V 4.26

did you try searching the DD WRT website?
Search for TL-WR740N, there is a 4.x version; I guess this should be compatible. Read up before you flash, cos a bricked router is of no use!

I have flashed DD-WRT to my 740N, though its a 4.24, bought from snapdeal. Also, get the revert firmware just in case.
