Is Religion above Nation ?

Religion has been the cause of maximum wars witnessed by the mankind and this man still finds a religious POV in a protest/revolution.

Is this Ideology not capable of manipulating masses on the basis of Religion against Nation if the need be?

Bukhari calls stir anti-Islam, tells Muslims to stay away

PS: This is a debate and I do not have anything against followers of any Religion.

PPS: Discussing Religions is prohibited but this is a discussion pertaining to ideologies conflicting with patriotism.

A religion is essentially composed of laws that work for the greater good of people and imposed on people by fear of god while the constitution of a country is the same thing imposed on people by fear of enforcement by state agencies. So its obvious that they come in conflict from time to time.

Plus, since the laws written for a specific time get outdated as society's moral center shifts religious texts also tend to get outdated and hence lose followers. This was the reason why Buddha set a timelimit for his teachings(even though that seems to have been a very liberal estimate on his side :p) and why the Catholic church has had to re-evaluate its stance on various issues. I guess its up to each person to decide whether to prioritize religion or nation depending on the situation.

Beyond scope of the the forum, the anna thread was a one off, we do not encourage topics on region , politics etc. There are other better suited forums for that

India is more of a collection of different people than a nation of similar people.

Indians have so many different languages, cultures, religions. Its difficult to label it as a nation. Rather its a concept which has been iterated so many times by people from different countries, that a world without boundaries.

During testing times, people of different religion have stood in the way to help friends belonging to different religions.

To be saying that religion be priority is as absurd as it gets. Indians generally are secular, its only the nutcase representatives who give bad name to a particular sect.
