hmmm....

nice rig! frankly , i'm not very sure about the AMD's. never used any. u seem to be from India..?

there are a couple of things which are confusing me in my rig.

should i go for 500 gigs instead of 320 gigs as i believe the price difference in not much..

about the RAM....i'm not sure whether to go for 4gb instead of 2gb.

regarding the GPU......not sure if this would support high end games.

regarding the speakers...i'm getting creative and iball mostly at the same price..even though creative is good...i would still want to go with iball as 1. it give 40W output and 2. i'm not a happy creative customer. had problems with it's volume controller which was never resolved!

and lastly , the monitor...LG i suppose is nearest to the real color experience and they have a greatly appreciated after sales support...??

hi....thanks for your help..

this is the final rig i've decided for myself...plz check..

CPU -- Intel Core 2 Quad 2.6 Ghz
MoBo -- Intel DG-41RQ
HDD -- Seagate 500GB
RAM -- Kingston 4 GB

Speakers -- Altec Lancing VS4121
Keyboard/Mouse - Logitech (Wired)
Monitor -- Samsung 23"
Cabinet -- iball/coolermaster

UPS -- APC 550VA

does it need anything else?? also what monitor is good? lg/samsung/dell or anyother in terms of color and brightness??

Thanks

1. CPU - Intel Core2Duo 2.93 Ghz = 5,100

2. Motherboard - Intel DG-41RQ = 2,500

3. GPU - Nvidia Geforce 9600GT 1GB = 4,200

4. HDD - 320GB Western Digital = 2,175

5. RAM - 2GB Kingston = 2,000

6. Cabinet - Iball i612 NEW (Change to Cooler Master Elite 310) : 1,500

7. Speakers - Iball Tarang 2.1 (2.1 Creative/ Philips) = 1,700

8. Keyboard/Mouse - Iball Shiny Deskset (Microsoft 700 Basic) = 1,100

9. Monitor - 20" LG = 6,500

10. UPS - 550VA APC = 1,300

That's a total of 29,000.. My suggestion would be to change the Graphics Card to 9800 GT or the GTS 250 (an Extra 2,000)..

Also instead of 320 GB I'd suggest 500 GB or 750 GB (2,300 and 2,700 respectively.)

You didn't mention a PSU, I'd suggest the Corsair/ Tagan 500 Watts : 3,500 to 4,000

A total of Approximately 34,000 give or take a few hundreds.. And you'd have a rig that's pretty good.. Best of Luck..

Thanks a lot for your suggestions....i am totally confused over AMD or intel...i've never used an AMD.!!

does'nt the Cooler Master Elite 310 come with a smps? iball does...

regarding the monitor...is lg 20"/23' better than samsung/dell??

can u suggest me a good rig amd/intel .. which should suite my needs...i'm totally confused...

the one sumit05 suggested , should i go with it..??

Ya Sumit's suggestion is good. But i would suggest you get a tri-core/quad core instead.

AMD AthlonII X3 425 - 3.65k/ AthlonII X4 620/630 - 4.8-5.2k~

You can also opt for DDR2 board and RAM if on a tight budget. Rest is fine.

The CM Elite is a much better cabby than the IBall and it doesnt come with a PSU

You need a get a decent PSU like the FSP SAGAII 350w/ Zebronics PRO 350w if u need a GPU like the HD5670/ 9600GT. Its not advisable to run it on a generic PSU

Nope.. The Cooler Master Elite doesn;t come with a SMPS.. The one that Iball gives you is a generic one and trust me all of us swear that a generic PSU is as good as skating on a razor with no shoes on... If the SMPS conks, it'll take the whole system with it.. I'd suggest that you buy a good SMPS.. It's a sensible investment that you won't regret...

Well, personally I have a LG 20" and I find the Color reproduction better than Samsung, but the Samsung 2043 20" has also got pretty good reviews...

At your budget choosing a AMD Quad-core would make a lot of sense, because first you are going to do Processor & Graphics intensive work and trust me the extra cores always help...

C2D 7500 is a pretty good chip and though C2D is in the EOL but still is a formidable competitor in it's budget..

For your reference I am copying some text from Tomshardware.com (February 2010 best CPU chips for the money)..

Athlon II X4 635

Athlon II X4 635
Codename: Propus

Clock Speed: 2.9 GHz
Socket: AM3
L1 Cache: 4 x 128KB
L2 Cache: 4 x 512KB
HyperTransport: 4,000 MHz
Thermal Envelope:
95W

Offering a 100 MHz speed boost over the Athlon II X4 630, the new Athlon II X4 635 cannot be denied as a good option for overclockers who want four processing cores

This model isn't unlocked (it's not one of AMD's Black Edition chips), but it does sport a higher multiplier than the Athlon II X4 630, making it a great true quad-core overclocking processor on the cheap.

Honorable Mention:
Core 2 Duo E7500 (Check Prices)

Core 2 Duo E7500
Codename: Wolfdale-3M
Process: 45nm
CPU Cores: 2
Clock Speed: 2.93 GHz

At 2.93 GHz, the Core 2 Duo E7500 remains a good match-up against the Phenom II X3 720 Black Edition. Even without an unlocked multiplier, the E7500 is an excellent overclocker and won't disappoint.

It has a high clock rate, but its dual-core design won't be as nimble as AMD's triple-core offerings when it comes to multi-threaded apps. Most folks considering this CPU are probably trying to squeeze longevity from an older LGA 775 platform. If you're looking to upgrade your motherboard as well, it'd be best to consider a Phenom II or Core i3 instead.

Honorable Mention:
Phenom II X3 720 Black Edition

Phenom II X3 720 Black Edition
Codename: Heka
Process: 45nm
CPU Cores: 3
Clock Speed: 2.8 GHz
Socket: AM3
L1 Cache: 3 x 128KB
L2 Cache: 3 x 512KB
L3 Cache: 6MB
HyperTransport: 4,000 MHz
Thermal Envelope:
95W

Is the unlocked CPU multiplier and 6MB of L3 cache worth the $40 premium over the Athlon II X3 440? For overclocking nuts, it just might be.

We're a bit torn here. On the one hand, we know that overclocking is the surest way to negate your warranty coverage. However, the Phenom II X3 720 Black Edition not only has that unlocked multiplier, but we've also had some luck unlocking the fourth core on a handful of samples. The chance may or may not be worth the extra money you drop in this chip. Bear in mind, though, that it's an "expensive" model for AMD to sell, and its starting to disappear fast. We're already having trouble finding it available online.

at this configuration what u have suggested..it's coming out to be more than what i was paying for intel..

guys....how would u compare

intel core 2 quad 2.5 processor
intel dg41rq mobo

with

AthlonII X4 620
Biostar TA785G3

what seems to be faster??

If you are comparing Athlon X4 620 and Intel Core Quad 9300.. Core 2 Quad 9300, Both lack L3 cache, but the Intel Quad comes with 6 MB of cache compared to 2 MB on a the Athlon...

At your price point, my 2 cents are you buy a AM3 board, i mean AMD 785G chipset, a Quad core CPU... So the only thing that you need to improve in future may be a better CPU, a Phenom II or a Phenom III (when it comes...) and may be add more RAM...

hmm...ok...i guess i can go for the quad processor....

another thing...which monitor do u think is the best if we only look at the color quality?

Since it's a 20" LCD that you are looking at you can either get the Samsung 2043/2033 or the LG Flatiron.. Both are good.. 6,500 in Nehru Place, New Delhi...

no no...i'm planning to go for a 22" or 23" now...anything that's good in terms of colors...and below 10K....not very fond of very wide monitors...any suggestions there?
