The approximate cost are [please correct me if i am wrong]:

MSI P55-CD53 : 5850

Intel Core i5-750 : 9950

Corsair DDR3 Ram 2 x 2gb value Ram : 5500

Western Digital 1TB HDD : 3400

SOny DVD RW : 1200

COOLER MASTER Elite 310 :1850

Tagan TG-500-U37 :3050

DELL 20" LCD : 7000

Palit 4870 512 Gddr 5 : 8200

Creative Inspire 5.1 M5300 Speakers : 3300

Logitech MX518 : 1550

APC UPS : 2000

COOLERMASTER 120mm Red LED Case Fan : 450

--------------------------------------------

TOTAL 53300

SO going for a 22 " and 5770 would increase the budget.. Max budget would be 53000. Any other suggestions?

phenom proccy , but what model no? and which MOtherboard? And budget cannot be increased as it was initially 50000 and was stretched to 53000.

Replace cpu with phenom II x4 945 or 955 BE save 2-3 grand... spend on 5770 hawk...

Replace cpu with phenom II X2 555 BE... save 4-5 grand... get HD 5850 :D...

Gaming comps need awesome graphics cards... this is just to fit them in ur budget...

Its a bad config with a not so good PSU and a generation old power monger GPU.

Plz follow this format so that we can get a clear idea of ur needs. http://www.techenclave.com/pc-buying-advice/template-what-should-i-buy-use-143714.html

Chk here to get an idea too. http://www.techenclave.com/pc-buyin...an-technology-community-pc-buying-169928.html

As ppl here have suggested i would also say u get the following,

  • PhenomII X4 945 ~ 7k
  • MSI 880GMA-E45 ~ 5.7k (Has USB 3.0 and SATA 6Gbps)
  • Corsair VX450 ~ 3.7k (5 yrs warranty, great A.S.S and more headroom for upgrades)
  • Sapphire HD5770 1GB GDDR5~9.4k/ MSI Hawk HD5770 1GB GDDR5 ~ 9.6k. Performance on par with HD4870 but is a DX11 card and consumes just ~60% power compared to HD4870
  • Benq G2220HD ~ 7.8k (VFM 22" LCD panel)

So it comes down to this:

MSI 880GMA-E45 ~ : 5700

PhenomII X4 945 ~ : 7000

Corsair DDR3 Ram 2 x 2gb : 5500

Western Digital 1TB HDD : 3400

SOny DVD RW : 1200

COOLER MASTER Elite 310 : 1850

Corsair VX450 ~ : 3700

Benq G2220HD ~ : 7800

MSI Hawk HD5770 1GB GDDR5 ~ : 9600

Creative Inspire 5.1 M5300 Speakers : 3300

Logitech MX518 : 1550

APC UPS : 2000

COOLERMASTER 120mm Red LED Case Fan : 450

----------------------------------------------

TOTAL : 53050

Any other changes?

Budget cannot exceed 53000. So made a few changes. Please check:

MSI 880GMA-E45 ~ : 5700

PhenomII X4 955BE : 7400

Corsair DDR3 Ram 2 x 2gb : 5550

Western Digital 1TB HDD : 3350

LG DVD RW : 900

COOLER MASTER Elite 310 : 1850

Tagan 500 W :3050 [ no upgrades for at least 5 years so is it ok if i put this psu?]

Benq G2220HD ~ : 7800

MSI Hawk HD5770 1GB GDDR5 ~ : 9600

Creative Inspire 5.1 M5300 Speakers : 3300

Logitech MX518 : 1550

APC UPS 550 VA : 2000 [ My old powersafe 500va ups has been handling my gaming rig for about 3 years, so just guessing that this one would suffice. Please correct me if i am wrong]

COOLERMASTER 120mm Red LED Case Fan : 450

Standard MM keyboard : 450

----------------------------------------------

TOTAL : 52950

The total comes to 52,550 if i replace the above with :

Corsair VX450 ~ : 3700

Creative Inspire 2.1 T3100 Speakers :2250

So what do you guys suggest?

No to tagan. Go for Corsair. I have clearly mentioned the advantages of the VX450. Its ur call then.

I have seen members saying that the APC 550VA is not sufficient enough to handle a 450w PSU when is loaded fully. 550VA ~ 550*0.6 ~ 330w.

Mostly ur rig power consumption would be less than 300w as u are going with low power GPU like the HD5770. It depends upon ur upgrades i guess.

The 955BE sells for 7.8-8k VAT inclusive in Mumbai according to Prime and ITwares website. So decide according to the budget.

If your friend can wait for 2-3 months more he may get GFX cheaper.

The following stuff is important for your rig and should not change no matter what your budget is :

CPU+RAM are perrfect

SMPS : Corsair VX450(rs.3650) (apart from providing a really clean supply corsair is giving 5yrs wrrty. too)

Cabinet : NZXT Gamma(rs.2150) -> It's completely powder coated and will stay with you for at least 3yrs without any sign of corrosion. It's way batter than CM's elite 310 in terms of airflow. +120mm Amigo(rs.200) or any other cheap fan will do if you are strict on budget.

Getting a good cabinet and a good PSU is a must that is ignored by a lot of noobs. These will prolong the shell life of your components by a good margin.

Graphics Card : ATI 5770(9.2K~9.6K) ( I would suggest you to stick with Sapphire but HAWX from MSI is also good, no idea about the wrrty. support for MSI though)

Hard Disk : 1TB Seagate as all 1TB's from WD are Green which are very slow. HDD will be the limiting factor for his PC's performance so faster an HDD runs the better it is for him. I would suggest you to go for a SSD but SSD's are very costly if you consider price per gb.

Speaker System : Any GOOD 2.1 channel system will do, Altec Lansing VS4121(rs.2800) is what I always recommend. A cheap 5.1 system like the Creative Inspire 5.1 M5300 is a total waste of money and space, I don't think the Creative T3100 are the best in their price range if you want a somewhat cheaper speaker system buy a Logitech R20(rs.850) or VS2621(rs.1650).

Keyboard + Mouse : Get a keyboard with a palm rest like a Logitech standard keyboard(rs.350) and Logitech MX518 is the best mouse you can get for gaming on budget, one thing to note is that MX518 is good for people with big hands(palm grip).

LCD Monitor : I'll give you a really odd advice here do not buy a FULL HD monitor buy a Samsung B2030 LCD Monitor(6.3K). I've been a crazy downloader for quite some time now(since 2003) and I still find FULLHD movies/series rarely what I find are 720p or HDrips. So 1600*900 is better for most of the stuff available online today and 1 MASSIVE advantage you're going to have is that you can run almost all the latest games @ full graphics and at NATIVE resolution. At native resolution the picture looks really crispy and all the LCD's are meant to run at native only. I myself prefer to decrease the eye candy by a big margin so that I can play @ native.

Motherboard : Go for similar Gigabyte or an ASUS board these will save you from a lot of trouble. MSI is okay.

UPS : I believe you are from Mumbai. Why would you need a UPS, rather go for a voltage regulator/stabilizer if you're area is suffering from overcurrent/spikes. I'm telling you this as a gaming rig on a UPS will cause the battery to die after 2yrs no matter what ur UPS brand is(I've seen 3 APC die after 2yrs they need a battery replacement).

And last but not the least whatever you do please buy your components from a Good dealer preferably PRIME abgb as they'll look after all your RMA requests themselves. If you're planning to buy from PRIME call them up and tell them a few-days earlier to keep all the stock you want with them or else you may end up changing the config. at the last moment due to unavailability. If u buy from some other shop they'll send you to the company's RMA center and you'll have to wait in long ques and call again and again. I hope considering all these details you'll be able to assemble a better configuration.

+1 for VX450 rather than any other PSU
+1 for 2.1 suggestion given above for speakers, it will be way better than cheap 5.1
+1 for NZXT gamma. I have used CM 330 elite & its power button was very flimsy, did not last even a year.

Rest is your wish.

Definite +1
A dealer had recommended the Gigabyte Superb 460W for my rig which cost 2200/- in comparison to the VX450's Rs. 3700 price tag IINM. But I insisted on VX450 because of its great efficiency and 5 Yrs warranty instead of Gigabyte's 3 yrs. You cannot put a price tag on the amount of hassle u have to go through for RMA. Don't even consider anything else.

Thanks for the input guys :) , so it boils down to this then:
MSI 880GMA-E45 ~ : 5700

PhenomII X4 955BE : 7400

Corsair DDR3 Ram 2 x 2gb : 5550

Western Digital 1TB HDD : 3350

COOLER MASTER Elite 310 red-black with transparent side panel : 1850

Corsair VX450 ~ : 3700

Benq G2220HD ~ : 7800

MSI Hawk HD5770 1GB GDDR5 ~ : 9600

Creative Inspire 2.1 T3100 Speakers :2250

Logitech MX518 : 1550

APC UPS 550 VA : 2000

COOLERMASTER 120mm Red LED Case Fan : 450

Standard MM keyboard : 450

----------------------------------------------

TOTAL : 51650
-----------------------------------------------

But i am worried about gaming with 5770 on 1920*1080 . It might not give better FPS with all the eye candy turned on:(.

@amit.pitbull

Planning to buy MSI & Corsair stuff as the buyer lives in vasai and Tirupati enterprise which deals with msi RMA is in vasai too. And i have had very good experience with MSI and their after sales service in the past.

If you are buying WD blue or black HDD , then its fine otherwise go for Seagate 7200.12. WD greens are good for storage purpose & not for primary HDD.
For speakers try Edifier R303 or C2, they are really good speakers in their price range, visit Alpha if you want to audition them. Frankly speaking I haven't heard creative T3100, so can't say anything about it.
Better to go for at least 650VA UPS rather than 550VA consider the efficiency of 60 - 70%. Best would be 800 VA.

^^ how much would wd blue 1 TB cost ? Though seagate drives are awesome their After sales service suck and i have a very bad experience with them. Budget wont allow the purchase of 650 or 800 va ups.

There is no 1 TB Blue from WD, you'll have to buy a Seagate 1TB as WD 1TB black will increase your budget. MSI is good then. But please buy a VS4121 system if not go for one of the other 2 options I mentioned. Seagate's rma is not all that bad rare cases occur on both sides. If you have problem with RMA TE'ians are there to help you out.

DO NOT BUY CMelite310 it has a 40cfm 120mm fan installed which is very poor for an exhaust. Gamma will give you a 60cfm(Silent too) fan and you can add another 120mm fan of your choice. Gamma beats cmElite in every way possible except maybe style. What do you have against gamma?
