Micromax A100 Android phone with 5 inch screen listed on Homeshop18 for Rs. 9,999

Although not an official announcement, the appearance of the Micromax A100 has guaranteed that it is an actual phone. It has come up on Homeshop18 as an entry and there it shows that it is out of Stock. The Smartphone will run Android 4.0 and have 512 MB of RAM.

The screen size will be very large at 5 inches (these kind of large phones are usually called phablets), but will only have a resolution of 800 x 480 (PPI of 186) which would clearly mean the images/text/videos won't be as clear as it is on the Galaxy Note, for example. The phone is proposed to include MediaTek MT6577 dual core 1GHz Cortex-A9 CPU under the hood, in tandem with the PowerVR SGX531 GPU.

According to the specifications listen on the Homeshop18 website, the phone will have a rear camera of 5 Mega Pixel, and internal storage will be 4 GB. An expansion slot will be there to expand the storage via MicroSD. It will also be a dual SIM phone.

We can't expect it to be NOTE when we are only paying 9,999/- :p

Still any other specimens reviled ?????

The resolution isn't that big a deal as most people are making it out to be. The Dell Streak, released 2 years ago, sold pretty well and had the same screen size, aspect ratio and resolution. It's just that after coming from a 250-330 ppi device, it's a little difficult to come down to a lower ppi display as things tend to look rough. However, for a first time or low end smartphone user, this won't make much of a difference. If this MediaTek processor is actually good and the display is of decent quality, the A100 should see a decent amount of success.

Let some reviews come out, will get to know the performance for the same, the only worry i feel would be battery backup.

the worry with micromax is that these phone have low battery backup..

its better to buy some or relevant brands..!!

This is the remake of chinese N8000 I think. If so worth the money, wonder why it isn't not coming with the 2500 ma battery. Its a single core cpu.
