Nokia's Android dreams are still alive at Microsoft even after the acquisition of its mobile division: Microsoft announced the Android-based Nokia X2 smartphone today.
Available in Bright Green, Orange, Yellow, Black and White. A Dark Grey version is also planned for release later.
The Nokia X2 looks very much the same as its predecessor, but it sports a bigger 4.3-inch display with WVGA (800x480) resolution. The internal specs have also been bumped to include 1GB RAM and a faster 1.2GHz dual-core processor. Just like the Nokia X, the X2 is also a dual-SIM smartphone.
Microsoft/Nokia has also added a home button on the front to make it easier for the users to reach their home screen (the Nokia X featured only the back button and users had to perform a long press to reach their home screen).
The most surprising part of this announcement is the fact that Microsoft is continuing to push Nokia's Android dreams, though those dreams did come very late into the game. Microsoft is also bundling its services along with the phone.
With a price of just 99 Euros, this handset is clearly aimed at the emerging markets, with India being being one of the main targets. I expect to see this phone sell at around ₹7,000; a decent competitor for Moto E.
