Hi,

I am not a professional Programmer.....

I do a little bit for fun..... like a hobby or just for the sake of it!! :eek:hyeah:

I came across this & thought that it might help Programmers gather resources for their work.

U need a Windows Live/Hotmail ID to be able to download the programming resources from this site.

The Professionals might not need this or might already know of this..... But I am posting this for the Beginners or the plain hobbyists like myself...... :)

Well..... Actually Microsoft cannot really verify whether u are a student...... :p

Hope I don't attract an Infraction for saying this...... I mean, it isn't wrong...... is it??
 
^ It asks for the university email-ID or some International Student Registration code. I don't have either. What ****ed up institute I'm in!

How is that possible......

Whenever I try to download anything I am just asked to Login with my Windows Live/Hotmail ID & thereafter, the download starts. No other Verification is required.

Can sumone else confirm this please??

But I never saw this screen...... Even a friend of mine downloaded & is using Visual C++ 2008 today itself...... he too had only a Windows Live ID.....

I hope sumone will be able to help you.

@nehaladsul, you might have activated this facility of Dreamspark on your Live ID. Because this service is only for students. You might have activated this some time because without activating it with a 25 digit product key(just like any other Microsoft;s product) this wont work.

I myself had activated my Live ID using the Dreamspark key(i got that from a Microsoft Seminar at my college).

So, activation is compulsory for this facility.

I think Express Editions don't need verification. I tried downloading VS 2010 Professional Edition and it requires verification. But VS 2010 Express Editions are allowed to download without verification.

Ya...!! My point of thinking was correct. You can download the express editions or better said free editions that are available in microsoft site before also. But for anything that needed to be paid needs verification.

BTW is there any way out we can verify??
 
I have a Dreamspark key which I got a year back. Don't know if its still valid, but if anyone needs it let me know and I can send it.

Yeah...... I guess that's the catch..... neway..... I think the tutes are for everyone..... right??
