Mozilla is working on their own mobile smartphone OS, the Firefox OS. Mozilla had announced their plans for a smartphone OS earlier this year. Apps on this platform will be running on HTML 5. Gearing up for it's launch in 2013, Mozilla has just released the Firefox OS Simulator. Download the package and get testing and exploring the environment now!
Firefox OS Simulator

Mozilla has released it's Firefox OS Simulator, which runs currently as an extension to the Firefox browser by the same company. The Firefox OS Simulator weighs in at a hefty 70 MB. That is a lot for an extension, but considering this is a mobile OS 70 MB is hardly anything much. Developers will be able to test their HTML 5 out apps in this simulator.

The Simulator is in active development. This is the version 1.0 preview release only, so it's not a representation of the final OS, yet. Things (loads of them) might change between now and when the OS finally releases next year.

In another news, Mozilla updates their Firefox Nightly with individual private browsing tabs. So much importance to Private Browsing, huh.
