Need a temporary and cheap solution to connect to my router via VPN

Hi,
I will be traveling for a month and I need to access work via my home network (ISP) on the go.

I am using an ACT Fibrenet connection with an ISP provided TP-Link Archer C1200. I enabled the DDNS (via No-IP) and OpenVPN services on it, but I am unable to get it to work. Every time I try to connect via the OpenVPN client, it gives an error that the connection has timed out. I tried using the OpenVPN client on my iPhone too, to no avail.

I am looking for cheap router than I can use while I am out of town. It can either support OpenVPN natively or through DDWRT. I can go back to my ISP provided router once I come back home.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

TIA,
Sibot

UPDATE: I got it work by using the TCP protocol. For some reason it connects flawlessly via TCP but fails to connect via UDP. Are there any drawbacks of using TCP?
