Why does he need an SSD? Plus why does he need an i7 2600k if he is not going do any video encoding or rendering stuff?

He just got into a college. CS branch. His dad gave him money. And he wants a pc faster than mine. Jealous cousins :p

If he is interested in overclocking than i5 2500k + Asus P8P67 Pro combo would be good for him but if he is not interested in overclocking the CPU than i5 2500 + Intel DH67BL combo... Plus does he have a decent cabinet? You forgot to mention that in the OP...

Same as mine Haf 922 we bought it together.

He is interested in overclocking so 2500k it is then.

What about ssd? Should he not get it? In that case maybe the gpu can be upgraded to something more decent. What do you say?

a GPU upgrade would be good for him... So apart from Monitor, SMPS and Cabinet he wants to buy everything... right?

I had given him the link to this thread. He is probably one of the guest browsing this thread right now.

So now he wants a Processor, mobo, ram and if possible a new gpu.

CPU - Intel Core i5 2500K - 10800

Motherboard - Asus P8P67 Pro - 11400

RAM - G.Skill Ripjaws X 1600mhz 8GB - 2700

CPU cooler - Coolermaster Hyper 212+ - 1900

GPU - MSI 6950 TwinFrozr III PE/OC edition - 15500

TOTAL - 42300

--- Updated Post - Automerged ---

If strictly on budget, he can get the Asus P8P67 for 10500 if no plans for Crossfire.

I suggested a CPU cooler since he may need it for OC'ing the 2500K. :D

He promised to sell his old cpu mobo ram and gpu to his friend for 4k.

So the budget can be easily extended till 44k now. :)

Any changes or should i ask him to go ahead with this?

SMC doesn't have the p67 pro. So they gave me the following options:

Asus P8Z68-V Pro (Free shipping) @ Rs.14,200/-

Asus P8Z68-V @ Rs.12,600/-

MSI Z68MA-ED55 @ Rs.10,300/-

Should i go for one of these? Or order the p67 pro from somewhere else?

The chances of that is very low... Actually there are two versions of hd6950 twin frozer 3.. one can be unlocked but the other cannot... one comes with bios switch and the other with fan switch...
