Hi Guys,

I need your help with choosing a motherboard for AMD X3600. My need is mostly gaming, VMware hosting for study and Photoshop tools.
Iwill be overclocking ram and CPU some times.

My budget is 10K strict.

You go about it this way, since you have a strict budget of 10k, look for boards in that price and then use the linus guide to choose the one for you. i would suggest Atleast a Tier C motherboard.

I believe you shall wait for the 550 series that will be future proof too.... but if can't wait then MSI Tomahawk is the way to go...it is the best motherboard for overclocking but i will suggest you to wait for the 550 series.

Agreed

Based on the release of 550 chipset and since we are (almost all members are stuck due to lockdown) - you should wait for the release of new chipset

See this article - https://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-R...50-and-below-motherboard-owners.464426.0.html

In this Article - AMD Technical Marketing Lead has confirmed that 470/450 will not support the Zen 3 and 550/570 will do with BIOS update - so wait for 550/570 for future proofing the system.

I need your help with choosing a motherboard for AMD X3600.
Assuming you already have this proccy, are you considering upgrading from this in near future ? With AMD announcing support for next gen Zen3 - Ryzen 4000 CPUs only on B550, X570 and above, technically B450 chipset have reached EOL with Zen2 - Ryzen 3000 CPUs and possibly Ryzen 4000 APUs compatible with it.

Okay, so with B450 + 3600, you are on dead end. With B550 + 3600, you may upgrade for one generation (Zen3 Ryzen 4000 series) with time span of may be about 1.5-2 years before AM4 socket itself goes EOL.
