PC Peripherals New RIG! - General Purpose, Net Surfing and few Games?

Corleone

Adept
Hello,

My bro wants to buy a new rig. The machine will basically be used as a General Computing Machine (Word, Excel), Internet Surfing (may be Skype as well) and a few Games as well.

I'm currently very much tied up and am unable to find time to search and jot down individual components.

Can you guys help me recommend him one RIG?

I've asked him for the budget and will post it here as soon as he responds.

Regards....

You didn't mention the budget. :\

I'm yet to receive that from my bro. As said in the first post. I'll post it when I receive it.

Thanks for all the inputs. I'll evaluate soon. Will post budget & queries soon as well.

Budget is around Rs. 25,000/- and the work which will be done is "Medical Transcription" work via the Internet.

Kindly let me have your inputs.

hey..i dint want to make a new thread for this.. so .. i myself am looking forward to an Intel Rig in the range of 25K mostly to be used to surfing, C++, JAVA and other programming as well, oh and also to play loads of em HD MKV files :D, its for my cousin, so if u guys can help in this regard id be really thankful,
BTW heres what ive come up with.. please give ur input on this regard.. and i donno know what the current prices at Nehru Place is.. so if anyone can quote them prices.. id really appreciate it.. thanx..

PS. SORRY FOR HIJACKING UR THREAD DUDE.. i mean no disrespect..

Intel Core 2 Duo E7400/E5200
Intel DG45ID MOBO (im really confused about the mobo, want something with Onboard Graphics for now..)
AOC LCD 917 19" VW Monitor
Corsair 2GB Ram Kit
LG DVD RW
Floppy Drive
Mouse & Keyboard Combo
Western Digital Internal 500GB HDD
Zabronics/Iball/Coolermaster Chasis
SMPS 500W
Altec Lansing 2.1speakers

and this whole thing strictly has to fit within 25K +/- 2K,
also as i wrote earlier, he specifically mentioned to get any mobo which offers Onboard Graphics...

so i need ur input on this rig guys, also please replace any component if u think to make it fit within that budget..

CPU: AMD Athlon II 240-3.2k
MOBO: Biostar 785 GE -3.6k
Transcend 2 GB DDRII- 1.5k
Seagate SATA II 500GB - 2.5k
Zebronics Bijli Cabby with PSU - 1.6k
Samsung/Dell 19" - 6.5k
Keyboard+Mouse: Logitech combo - .7k
Speakers: Altec Lansing BXR1121 - 1.2k

This will cost you 21k approx. AMD do provides you with a good upgradility path and the C2D, LGA 775 sockets are End Of Line now. The 785GE has enough juice to run many games in low-medium settings. This will suffice most of your needs. So save the remaining money and invest in some basic GPC after few months if you want to. :)

Make sur u get a gud psu like crossair .. people like me ignore that and then cry later on ... i bought a cheap psu and now am looking for something gud within a year !
