"Newegg Now Owned by Chinese Company"

Hope they dont screw it up like what WoSign did to StartCom (Owner of StartSSL - Free HTTPS certs until LetsEncrypt came out), although that matter has been resolved now.

Most of my friends in the US prefer Amazon (AZ fulfilled) or Microcenter for PC components over Newegg for the last couple of years, when I was browsing for gpu's I too noticed that Newegg had the highest prices of them all.
MC isn't really an option for everyone because their stores are few and far between but they have the best in store deals for cpu's and mobos and they also price match with online portals, nothing like it if you can arrange for someone to pick components up for you if there's one in their vicinity.

^^ All electronics are made in China. Even if not the product itself, the components from which the product is assembled.
As for Newegg, Amazon has been a vastly better alternative for a long while now.
