I need a camera-centric mobile and almost got the Mi A2.
After noting the bugs/probs see :

Looks like it was a good/lucky decision.

Nokia X7 / 7.1 Plus : 4/64 around Rs 18,000 in China, may be a bit less here, hopefully.

Having the Nokia 7 Plus and using since quite a few months, I will say go for Nokia. In the higher price range, Nokia is putting out really sturdy, reliable phones with good specifications, and most of all, I love pure Android.

Nokia is undeniably one of the most efficient and promising companies when it comes to Android updates. And because of this, it was a bit of a shock to see the Nokia 7.1 launch with Android 8.1 Oreo earlier this month. Fortunately, HMD Global did confirm an update to Pie by the end of October and, seemingly staying true to its promise, this version has already been spotted in testing.

In addition to the Nokia 7.1, HMD Global recently confirmed that both the Nokia 6.1 and 6.1 Plus would receive Android 9 Pie this month too. Shortly after this, in the month of November, Nokia’s most premium smartphones, the Nokia 8 and 8 Sirocco, will gain access to the new software version.

They will definitely release Android 9 for all their phones for which they have promised OS updates for 2 years. I have already got Android 9 on my Nokia 7 Plus.

Also for Nokia 8.1 : Google ARCore support

https://www.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6t-xiaomi-mi-mix-3-google-arcore/

Interestingly, the Nokia 8.1 has not been officially announced yet, though rumors point that this may be the global variant of the recently released Nokia X7.
...
For a device to be officially support by Google ARCore, it has to pass Google’s certification process. This is done by checking the quality of the camera, motion sensors and the design architecture to ensure that the device can deliver good performance. You also need a powerful CPU to carry out real-time calculations effectively. The certification process ensures that ARCore integrates well with every officially supported device from Android’s diverse ecosystem, and provides for a good experience on those devices.

According to a report on 91Mobiles, the Nokia 8.1 India launch is pegged for November 28. The report also claims that the smartphone will be priced at Rs 23,999. The pricing seems pretty steep, but we hope that it is the top-end variant with 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage, which is priced at Rs 26,700 in China.

Nokia X7/8.1/Plus is definitely interesting. Android One, frugal yet capable proccy, excellent display, USB type-c with fast charging; seems good enough for successor of Nokia 7 Plus.

We should wait for the 10th before commenting :)

Are most mobiles 33% cheaper in China ? I doubt it. Assuming the 8.1 is priced at 24,000.

Following are my observations for 4+64GB config in all models;

Nokia 7.1 -> 23,350(HK)/19,999(India)/not available in China
Nokia 7 Plus -> 29,684(HK)/25,999(India)/19,481(China)
Nokia 6.1 -> 20,636(HK)/15,999(India)/13,325(China)
Nokia 8.1 -> 17,429 (China)

If you observe, Nokia phones are definitely cheaper in China and expensive in Hong Kong. Going by trend of prices in China, 8.1 should be priced around 22-23K. My guess is that it will be HK$2888 here when launches.

Wonder what's the market in India for Rs 20,000 - 30,000 mobiles.

Those with the money would opt for flagship/premium mobiles.
Those without would go in for less than Rs 15,000 - 17,000 models.

Going to be interesting to see how well the 8.1 sells if priced between 22,000 - 24,000.

Re the prev post, is the Nokia India pricing strategy different from other makes? I always thought mobiles here were cheaper than elsewhere.
