Ola cars tracking system - Amazing - How do they do it ?

I recently ordered a car from OLA for my relatives coming very early morning..
It was amazing i could track, the driver details from pickup location to delivery upto my location..

I as well got a SMS on other phone, while sharing the ride details.

How do they do it via GOOGLE MAPs ?

Anyone aware on this technology ? (Appreciate if it is safe, as it was).
 
? Its a very simple system. Cars are equipped with GPS systems. Both OLA/Uber uses google maps to show the car location on a map. They have sms option because sometimes there's no internet/low internet at pickup point so passenger can use sms to share the code required to start the trip.
 
You are correct, at same time they give a tracking URL which you can open on desktop or cell whereever, with internet connectivity.
I am interested to know more of that tracking URL.
URL is generated the time otp is entered in car and url stops showing route when trip ends.
If not wrong, it should have google maps + ola tie up, wanted to confirm
