Hi guys ,

my friend wants a graphic card for his below system ;

amd athlon 5200 2.7GHZ

3gb ram

asus m2n mobo

He has recently upgraded tp benq 2420hd monitor and is looking for HDMI and gaming card.

games he will play :

FIFA 11

crysis 1

batman arkham asylum

COD black ops

assassin creed brother hood

kindly suggest Thanks

First he needs to upgrade his whole system before buying a decent card coz AMD Athlon 5200 wud cause a huge bottleneck...

will the hd4850 or 5570 be overkill for the system????

mainly the card is required to watch 1080p movies on his LCD...games are secondary but if he can play few games tht would be an added adv

^^ NO.

In that case he is a casual gamer and the cards you have mentioned will work just fine for the intended purpose. Also go for the the HD5670 over the HD5570. While for a better gaming experience, a used HD4850 will do the trick. Coupled with that proccy, you should get playable FPS for most games at 1080 with mid settings (make that high settings in case of some games) except of course Crysis :p.

Take a look at this thread, addresses a somewhat similar issue, 4850 @ Full HD 1920 x 1080.

Buy a HIS HD 5670 IceQ edition -- 4.4K, review -- HIS Radeon HD 5670 IceQ 512 MB Review - Page 1/32 | techPowerUp

+ a Corsair CX 400 -- 2.5K OR Seasonic S12-IIBronze 430W -- 2.3K

minimum PSU for this setup FSP Saga II 400W OR Gigabyte Superb 460W -- 1.9K, if you have a generic SMPS you'll need a decent SMPS atleast to power the rig without the system turning into a blast furnace. The HD 5670 is a perfect balance of gaming power (on medium settings) + power consumption for your current usage needs.

Are you sure about the price of the HIS 5670 ? Last i saw it was for 5K for the 512MB version from Purnam :S.
