Ads in Android Apps Account for Up to 75% of App's Total Battery Usage .

. Are you using free apps which display ads on your android device and battery drains out quickly ? Then ads in those free apps are to be blamed . According to research carried out by Microsoft and Purdue University , ads in apps contribute for upto 7 percent of apps total battery usage on Android devices .

. This was tested by specially developed tool running five popular apps , Angry Birds, Free Chess, the Android browser, MapQuest and the New York Times app on HTC Nexus one running Android Gingerbread . ZDNet reports , " While playing a level of Angry Birds, 70 percent of the battery drain was as a result of the game uploading user data in the background, such as location information) and the downloading and displaying of ads to the user. " The drain is due to unoptimized coding of ad modules , the team hopes this information will help developers to write more efficient codes .

New Linux Kernel Released , Unites Android and Linux

Founder of Linux , Linus Torvalds announced the release of new Linux kernel 3.3 . It brings a lots of fixes and improvements and most importantly it bridges Google's Android OS and Linux kernels . The release notes state , " For a long time, code from the Android project has not been merged back to the Linux repositories due to disagreement between developers from both projects. Fortunately, after several years the differences are being ironed out. Various Android subsystems and features have already been merged, and more will follow in the future. This will make things easier for everybody, including the Android mod community, or Linux distributions that want to support Android programs " . The new kernel introduces several new features and improvements as well including new architecture support ( TI C6X) , network priority cntrol , addition of Open vSwitch , better buffering , better traffic control and TCP handling etc .

Samsung Releases Source Code Of Android ICS for Galaxy S II

Samsung has released the source code of Android ICS for Galaxy S II .This is the source code of the official Android 4.0 ICS update for the Galaxy S II was released recently by Samsung . Though this is not of much interest to the ordinary users , but its great news for developers who can create better and modified ROMs for the Galaxy S2 . The ICS kernel and source code is available at Samsung's Open Source Release Center Website .

Samsung Galaxy S III to Come With Quad-Core Exynos Chip

As the rumors related to Galaxy S III continue to flow , latest one claims that it will come with a Samsung's own 32nm Exynos quad-core chip . This information was tipped off by an unidentified Samsung executive to The Korea Times . He said the chip will boast built in LTE modem . However , Samsung and Qualcomm did not comment on the matter when reached out by Korea Times .

HTC Partners with LogMeIn To Offer Remote Support In Future Phones

HTC has partnered with remote access software maker LogMeIn to offer remote support app in future phones. The app is called LogMeIn Rescue and will be included in HTC phones which will allow HTC's technical support to have a close look on issues faced by users . It will help both the owner and HTC saving time and money as there will not be any need to send the phone physically for repair due to minor problems faced by users.
