[PN] Google Drive launches next week

Google Drive launches next week

Google drive is the clone of Dropbox which is to be launched next week with a 5GB initial storage to everyone. It is a much hyped upcoming product by Google so we can see millions of downloads on the first day .This is being launched in 4 Major platforms – Mac,Windows,Android,iOS . (No Love for Linux

) . May be this is the reason why Dropbox is giving 500MB bonus instead of 250MB for each new referral . My reason for why not to use this service is that this will be integrated into the already su**ing G+ . They may even read the contents of your files and serve ad’s accordingly.

Some alternatives – Box.com , skydrive,dropbox,

Skype for web

Finally Microsoft is doing something right. After a lot of failures here comes a winner , they are trying to launch skype for the web. Recently they published a job posting which requires “passionate, team-oriented and self-motivated developers to help us bring Skype experience on to the Web†. Which basically says that we are going to launch skype on web. Looking forward to the launch.

Opposition for CISPA

A coalition of Internet advocacy groups - including the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF), and Reporters Without Borders - launched "a week of Internet-wide protests" today, which calls on Web users to tweet their lawmakers with their opposition to the bill.

These bills never cease to amaze me because they all come with the same terms but with different names. Let’s see how far this will go .

Google drive will be good for E-mail attachments which at present I am depending on Dropbox for. And 5GB also appeals to be a pretty decent storage space.

Google please don't say that Google apps users will have to wait

Linux is a threat to Google. They would try their best to knock it down. Why develop a Chromebook when you have Linux?

I doubt that Google is trying to knock out Linux, they have gained much from the Open Source Foundation software, what they are doing is trying to standardize tool sets under a single OS.

Though I doubt it will be much help if they apply the Android logic to this sub-sector too, it will lead to further fragmentation of the market. One of the reasons I am gunning for Windows Phone OS over Android.
