So many politicians and corporates trying to show their might by censoring something or the other. Dec 2012 might not be end of the world but the end of the internets, judging by the rate at which governments are listening to a hand full of politicians and corporate companies to snuff out everything completely.

Seems like the pakistan govt. want to follow in the footsteps of its esteemed master, China

The hotfile thing proves that inspite of providing a good DMCA tool, you can still get shut down. crap.

Since such precise stats are available, wonder I whether the govt or the corporations download every file from these sites?

If they do so are they infringing the privacy of the "5.3% that are clearly non-infringing". I mean clearly they might have stepped on someones toes....

what i do not understand is if piracy affects their bottom lines so much then how are the production companies still making huge profits every year? shouldn't they be in loss or almost bankrupt, judging by the amounts they claim they've lost to piracy?

what they are meaning is that their bottom(line)s would have been fatter, if not for these *@#^&#!

the way things are moving - the (cyber) world won't be flatter, it would be "bumpy" - each country would end up with its own customized, sterilized internet. And that may happen sooner than later.
