Two major events occurred in the last few days

1. On 29[sup]th[/sup] Feb Piratebay deleted all .torrent files it now only serves magnet links.

2. On 1[sup]st[/sup] march Google changed its privacy laws aggregating data all over its services.

Google Privacy Changes

European data protection agencies have concluded that new Google privacy policies breaches the existing EU laws. CNIL of France is also skeptic and wants to start a European wide investigation.

Yahoo Relieved

Yahoo was removed from the list of 22 companies that were accused of having objectionable content because there were no sufficient evidence backing the allegations against them.

No Facebook in Tajikisthan

Facebook and two other sites namely , tjknews.com and zvezda.ru were blocked because they have published news against their president .

Internet monitoring in India

Government is setting up NCCC (National Cyber Co-ordination Center) for monitoring internet for cyber security in real time. We can think of this as our version of Censorship tool. NCCC will be in virtual contact with ISP control rooms.

This software is similar to any other torrent software but this software is for your own private network where you can add friends by exchanging certificates. This also uses Open SSL for encryption. This makes it impossible to monitor what is being downloaded in a network. If used correctly this is an impossible system to crackdown.

New Standards for TV torrents

The release groups have changed from xvid/avi to MP4/x264 . Most of the downloaders are not happy because mp4 is not supported by many players and they have to convert it into supported formats .

probably not. if you think they will read each and every mail or see what website we are watching trying to figure out what everyone's upto, they will need countless people and countless lives. Most probably they will be using some automation script to run data through to find threat words. Even then, the number of false positives would be so high and people working in their department so low, that the people will end up doing what they do normally v.i.z. turn a blind eye or feign ignorance.
